Glass top seems prone to cracking
After 2 weeks of use, and a casserole dish that slipped from my hands at about 4" above the stove, I'm concerned this glass cook top is quickly going to look like my last iPhone -- completely shattered and unusable. Perhaps Bosch needs to sell a line of protective cases?

Bosch induction range
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 100% pleased with this range.
I only have one suggestion. The legs need to be able to lower the range about another 1/4 inch. The glass doesn't set flush with my counter top.
The over baked evenly.
The range top cooks fast on and fast off identical to a gas range.

Induction range
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Happy I went with better quality.
First use a 2 inch scratch on cooktop. Used stainless steel pan. Did not move pan.
Oven temp is lower.
All in all I love the range

What a welcome change!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently installed a solar system on our roof so we wanted to switch to electric appliances. I was reluctant to switch from our gas range since my experience was with older electric models that took forever to heat up. I did a ton of research and found this particular model that had everything I wanted. I actually never saw it in person before buying so what a surprise it was when it arrived (shortly after ordering! No long wait). It's gorgeous. I can boil water in less than a minute. The oven fan is a tad bit noisy but I don't mind it. I'm hoping that will help with longevity.

So far so good, continued...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Continuing from my previous review...
- Oven temperature bell goes off too early. I’ve baked at least 20 times so far, and I have an external Thermoworks Square Dot, and it’s very accurate. The internal temp bell of the Bosch goes off at 320 when I set the oven for 350. Same kind of error when I set to other temperatures. Oddly though, it eventually gets the 350, or whatever temp I’ve set. Takes much longer to get there than my old gas stove, but that’s to be expected. And that’s ok. It’s electric, and expected. The benefit is the much more even temp throughout the oven, because of the multiple heaters. There’s three. One top, one bottom, and one in the fan. Not all are used for every oven setting.
- Oven does not change temp properly. I need to talk to Bosch about this.
I HAVE MUCH MORE TO SAY, BUT I’M OUT OF SPACE
** If I change setting, like from bake to convection bake, or change the temp from 350 to 400, for some reason, the temp usually starts to trend downward for a while, Actually, for a long time, like 30m, and at some point, the oven figures it out, and the temp eventually goes to what I set it to. I suspect the time constant of the averaging mechanism is set way too high, and there’s just something wrong with the algorithm they’re using to adjust the temp. It should never ever go “down” when I turn it up higher.
- Oven is a little too small, but it’s really quite great. I think it’s really my problem. My old American Range oven was 3” deeper and 2” wider. The bosch is 6” taller, which is nice, but I’d rather have the width and depth. I could fit two half sheet pans side by side in my old range, and yes it was a 30”, fit in the same spot. I’d really like to have more depth, so I could fit a half sheet in the Bosch with the long side going in. Then, I could put other things beside it. I believe the Bosch is much better insulated than my old oven, and that is probably why the Bosch not as wide inside, because I believe it may have more insulation in the side walls. However, the Bosch is designed in a European style, so it’s not very deep. Personally, I don’t understand this. I think they’re short-changing their design to fir some esthetic. There’s a ton of space behind the back oven wall, between that and the drywall behind it. Bosch, just make the oven deeper, it’d be a win-win for you and the consumer.
- Ideally, I would have all four burners be the same size as the front two, and have the same power. That’s what I had with my old gas stove. However, I’ve come to realize that for induction, you get much more even heat distribution if you match the pan base size(not the pan size) to the burner size. So, if I put a 5” sauce pan on the front 8.75” burner, the center 2” of the 5” pan isn’t heated much, and the other 3” is. However, for my 12” frypan(has a 10” base), if I put it on the front burner, the center 2” get less heat, but the outer 4” beyond that does, and over time, if I don’t crank it up too high, the nice thick aluminum shell of my 12” pan does a nice job of re-distributing the heat. So, it’s a numbers game, if you want even heating.
* Pro Tip: Using a flour sifter, lightly coat the surface of your pan with all purpose flour, then center it on your burner, and turn up the heat to your desired setting. After a few minutes, the flour will start to brown, showing you the heating pattern. If you’ve set a moderate heat, and you have a nice thick base that conducts heat well(alum or coper), then you will see a the heating pattern spread out nicely. It won’t be perfect, and that’s ok, nothing is. Be careful with your expectations, your mileage may vary(tm)…If you crank up the heat to boost, you’ll be putting an extreme amount if heat in to your pan very fast, and the metal in the pan, no matter how good, will not be able to conduct the heat fast enough to provide even heating. It’s like expecting to get even heating from a blowtorch. BTW, water also conducts heat very very well. So, boost is safe to use if your pot is filled with water, or if you have cast iron(which can take any heat pretty much, but you’ll still get a ring pattern from the inductor coil position in the cooktop, since iron conduction is very slow)
- The silver metal rim around the glass cooktop is not magnetic, so don’t expect to be able to snap anything magnetic to it, like an oven thermometer. This was probably done for safety reasons, as the induction coils could heat it up, and that would be bad.
That about sums is up, This is a wonderful range. It’s so very difficult to buy these things, it’s super difficult to compare to others, because showrooms don’t have many, and they’re almost never plugged in, and you can’t try anything out. Then, you have to take a leap of faith, take delivery, and usually you can’t even return it. Very challenging. Also, quite often, there are almost no reviews, as is the case for this range.
Happy Hunting!

So far, so good...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok, so far this range is pretty good, great even.
Pros:
- Cook top is really superb. More power and control in every burner than I could ever hope for.
- Cooktop surface is 23.25” x 29.75”
- Left to right center to center of burners is 14.5”
- Front the back center to center of burners is 9” (I wish this was 11”, then I could fit soooo many more pot/pan combinations)
- Edge to edge(Except glass) is so wonderful. They should all be this way. So much space, so easy to clean.
- Each burner goes from 1-9 and boost. 1 is extraordinarily low, like it takes ages to melt butter low.
* Many induction reviewers rave rave rave about boiling water. Come on guys, we can do better.
* Induction isn’t just about power, it’s about speed and control. And this Bosch does it well. I love love love the knobs. I can fine-tune my cooking, turn it up or down a notch just by nudging the knob, and listen to the sizzle of salmon skin get a little louder, a little too loud, back off and it’s perfect. I can watch butter soften, and see it start to brown, quickly turn it down 3 notches, and immediately see things slow down, maybe too slow, so I crank it back up a notch, and voila, perfect.
* Once you get to 9, push a little further and hold for a few seconds, and boost engages. I can boil 4 quarts of water in 3m.
* Yes, it’s insanely powerful(front burners).
* That being said, there are 3 other burner setting, which, IMHO, are pointless. As you turn the dial, you first go through three lower settings, before you get to 1. My instinct, intuition, told me that these three setting were like warming settings, but they’re not. They are indicated on the red central cooktop display by bars. 1 bar / or 2 // or 3 ///.
*** To test the relative value of every setting, I put 2 cups of water in a pan, and let it sit for 10m, so the setting have ample time to bring the water to it’s average heating value. Here’s what I got. As you can see, setting / is useful, and should be kept. However, setting // and /// are non-intuitive. Maybe as the owner of this range, I could memorize and remember to use these settings, but what if it’s late and I’m a little drunk, or I just tired, or what if there are many people in the house using the range, or I have guests and they want to use the range. None of these case would have any idea that // or /// would provide those heats. So, this IMHO, should be changed to something more intuitive. Make /=105, //=112, ///=120, 1=130, and keep the rest. So much more intuitive.
/ 105
// 135
/// 205
1 120
2 145
3 160
4 180
5 190
6 205
7-9, b Did not test, as these would all be boiling temp(212), and just boil faster with higher settings
* The burners make a slightly buzzing sounds. That means it’s working. Induction relies not only on the induced current in the ferromagnetic base of your pan, but that current is being induced at a high AC frequency through that coil. The High frequency movement of energy through your pan will cause some vibration, which will create some vibration noise. So every pan you have will sing a little different. The thicker the pan, the more that noise and feeling(yes, you can feel it), will be dampened. I can barely hear or feel anything with my cast Iron pan, but put a thin aluminum pan(with a thin magnetic base), and you’ll feel and hear a lot more.
* The electronics of the Bosch itself are very very quite. Yes, there is some noise, but compared to other induction cooktops, even the high-end Thermador one at my local shop, have all been much louder. So, don’t be discouraged. This one is worth the money.
* There are fans inside to keep the electronics cool. The noise from the fans may come as a shock to you, if you’re used to cooking with electric or gas, and you haven’t been using an exhaust fan. In that case you’ve been cooking in dead silence mostly. Personally, I have an exhaust fan, and always used it, every time, with my gas stove(yes, you should too, gas combustion puts out NO2 and causes Asthma, I won’t go in to that was here, but I hope you see that is simply logical that combusting gas creates byproducts, just like the tail-pipe of your car. Think about it).
* Anyway, the fans inside this oven, yes, they make some noise, but it’s not very loud, and it’s nice and smooth and pleasant, but if you’re not used to having an exhaust fan on, it might be a little jarring to you. I was all worried that it might be super loud like a jet taking off. I have a friend with a Samsung, and his is like that. Very loud. This Bosch is quite nice, and I’m ok with the fan noise, happy even.
- Knobs are great quality, not wobbly at all, very solid.
* Looked at a Bertazzoni, and knobs stalks were plastic, very bendy
- Cooktop is the best!
* I like that the big burners are up front. Some have one front, one back. With that arrangement, there's not enough space for two big pans(one front, one back
- Cooktop goes edge to edge, so it's very easy to clean, and sweep junk off the edge. So nice.
- The steel vent in the back is only ~1/2” high. This is much better than many other stoves, where the vent it 2, 3 even 4" tall. Because this one is so short, you get more pan space. Many large pans, like 12" frypan, have a very rounded base near the edge. So, you can push it all the way to the back, and gain 1-2" of useable space.
- Oven is wonderful, heats very evenly ( I tested several batches of cookies and muffins)
- Oven window is awesome. Super clear. Super large.
- Oven window is very easily cleaned because of the large one piece of glass on the inside. Also, it’s flat, so no crevices.
- The base adjusts height very easily. There are four legs, each one has ~2” of height adjustment
- When adjusting the burner setting, there is a four quadrant read number display that shows you the burner setting. 1-9 and b for boost. Once off, you’ll see either an h or H, meaning hot or HOT. The glass surface can get hot from your pan(not from the actual induction burner). So, Bosch must have installed some sort of simple temperature sensor to detect the glass cooktop temp in the center of each burner. However, even when it says H, I can wipe the surface with a cotton towel, and I’m not in danger of the towel getting too hot. So, it’s extremely safe, compared to my old gas cooktop.
* I really love this feature, especially with a cooking curious 7 year old in the room.
- Interior light is pretty good. It’s nice and bright, and is on the left.
* Con: Please Please Please add a second light on the right. I spent thousands of dollars on this thing. I expect these little things. My whole family loves watching things cook in the oven, seeing muffins rise, sourdough poof up then darken in blotches then become evened out with time, cakes slowly rise and the surface go from glistening to matte. But it’s all a little ruined by having a harsh shadow from the indirect non-uniform light from just one side. If I could spend another couple hundred dollars just to add a second light, I would gladly do it, give that I’ve already made a substantial investment, and I would treasure the improvement for years.
- Convection. My old oven had a separate convection switch. That would be nice here.
- Broiler works great. It has three settings. Setting 3 is very hot, I burned some garlic toast lickety split. Setting 2 was a champ for that.
- The oven door has a soft close option. This is very nice.
- Angled display is a nice feature
- Oven light turns on automatically when you open the oven. That’s nice. But, they didn’t make it too smart. You can still turn off the light.
Everything is very solid construction. The heat vent on the back of the Cafe was not solidly attached, and every time I hit it with a pan, it would make a noise, and even pop off (If I hit it hard, just for fun)
- This range has none of that smart gimmicky stuff. Personally, I do not want or need any of that stuff. I do not leave my oven or cooktop on when I’m not home, so I do not need alerts or Wifi access. Bosch, thank you for not adding any of that stuff.
Cons:
- Center to Center space from back burner to front burner is 2" less than my old gas stove. So, when I center two pans, one front, one back, there is less room between them. I can't have a 12" pan in front, and a 10" pan in the back. I can only have a 12" in front, 8" in back.
- Writing on knobs is very light and shadowed by top. Impossible to read, especially if you're over 45, and are starting to need reading glasses. Suggest to make this big bold black. Look at some other brands, and copy the best.
- Oven knob control setting should show up on the nice digital display. So simple, yet it does not. This would make the over much more intuitive to use. Also, add a graphic that shows which heating elements are being used, and if fan is on, to further improve intuitive use
- Handle in front needs to be 1-2" deeper. It's already slightly too shallow for a medium sized man's hand to slide a towel on to the bar. But, because of the display in the middle, you basically have to open the oven, to be able to slide a towel on to the handle in the middle.
- Oven 30” model doesn’t have easy glide grates. This would be a very nice addition
- Oven temperature bell goes off too early. I’ve baked at least 20 times so far, and I have an external Thermoworks Square Dot, and it’s very accurate. The internal temp bell of the Bosch goes off at 320 when I set the oven for 350.
- Oven does not change temp properly. I need to talk to Bosch about this.
MORE TO SAY, OUT OF SPACE, will continue in a second review if I can.

Beautiful
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love the stove top and oven. Induction is incredible. 2 cups of water boil in ~45 seconds. The knobs set this apart from other induction ovens. This Bosch has the luxury and quality feel and is a few thousand less than Viking or Miele. The deciding factor was that this was in stock at Home Depot. It's also nice that the door is shorter than many other ovens so it doesn't stick out as far in the kitchen. The fan is really loud when the oven decides it needs to regulate heat. You can't control it as othere noted, but you can open the oven (if you're done cooking) to bring the temperature down more quickly so the fan turns off sooner. I don't recommend purchasing from Home Depot. The installers had no experience with this oven and insisted it was supossed to be installed in the wall. When I showed them the feet, they said feet is an extra installation cost. They left the oven in the middle of my kitchen and I installed myself. Not difficult, but it does take time getting the oven balanced and at the right height and installing tip-over prevention bar.

Beautiful but a few flaws
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our Bosch induction stove is beautifully designed and works nicely in many ways. The oven heats quickly and evenly; the top burners are responsive. Still, the temperature dials are absolutely impossible to read -- the numbers and settings are written in tiny print that is located under an overhanging lip of the stovetop. Also, the burner temps aren't evenly graduated so there's little difference in heat between, say, 4 and 5 but a big difference 6 and 7.
