I ordered the pro-pack containing five of the straight 1/4 turn 1/2” barb Pex inlet 3/8 OD compression outlet by BrassCraft for replacing some of my older (some leaking) shut off valves. These were very easy to install with the proper crimp tool for full copper crimp rings. I replaced a short section of 1/2” copper (too short to work with) from the floor into the vanity cabinet with 1/2” Pex line. Then I installed the straight shut off valves. I have used these a couple times before in areas of renovation or repair in my house where sweating copper is not feasible for me. They work great and are leak free. In my case, these are excellent replacements for failing multi-turn shut off valves that haven’t been used in years. Those almost always leak after sitting open for years. I think they are a well made quality valve.

These things are AWESOME! The difference between this valve and other valves is the PEX end. I included a picture below with RED arrows pointing to the pex end of the valve. I LOVE pex plumbing. In this day and age, there are many ways to do plumbing as a "do it yourselfer". Push to fit connections are one way, but I am a huge fan of the entire PEX way of plumbing. All you really need is a crimping tool and some crimping rings. You can't really mess it up. I have asked around and there seems to be no downside to running pex instead of copper.

These fittings made by BrassCraft are PEX crimp fittings. They require no soldering, but do require special crimp tools to install. This particular fitting is a ½” PEX crimp by 3/8” compression. They are straight ¼ turn valves. This fitting is the standard for using on toilet and under sink connections. They are an excellent choice to use when the supply line exits through the floor because of their straight design. The compression fitting comes with a brass ferrule installed, but also includes a plastic ferrule for use on plastic lines. The PEX system for plumbing is very easy to use and install, as long as you have the required tools used for making the crimps. I find these fittings from BrassCraft are quality valves made right here in the U.S.A.

The Brasscraft 1/4 turn straight valve is a shutoff valve used to control water flow where a pex pipe enters the house from a wall with only 1/4 turn of the handle instead of several turns. The valves are used with toilets and faucets and you may need a straight or angled shutoff depending on whether the pipe comes from the wall vertically or horizontally.. I recommend replacing old shutoffs periodically and also when you acquire a home with old style shutoffs.

A very nice compact little valve for your under sink water lines. Quarter turn actions like these are much better for these typical valve locations under sinks or other enclosed spaces. The valves have a good quality finish and the box includes a plastic ferrule as well as the normal brass ferrule. They operate smoothly and easily and have positive stops. I especially like that you can run your 1/2" PEX right up to the valve and then go directly to the 3/8" faucet line.

i ordered these straight valves to use with 1/2 inch pex water lines where a cutoff valve is needed for a faucet or toilet. the valves are made of brass and are 1/4 turn shut off which i prefer to use because they seem to last longer and are less likely to leak when turned on and off multiple times. they are very easy to install using pex pinch clamp crimp fittings as long as you have access to a pex crimping tool. just slide clamp over the pex line, insert the barb end of the valve into the pex line, slide the clamp over the covered barb and crimp using the tool. attach your water line to the compression outlet and your finished. i think these valves are a great choice to use with pex water lines and i am completely satisfied with this product.

I used these BRASSCRAFT 1/2 IN. NOMINAL CRIMP PEX BARB INLET X 3/8 IN. O.D. COMPRESSION OUTLET STRAIGHT VALVE, GREY on the water lines to my bathroom vanity, and to the water line that goes to my toilet. They make it much easier if something goes wrong with the fixtures or valves, being that there is a water shut off that is close by. We all know that someday something will happen.

Modern upgrade for installation ease and long life. PEX is the future of plumbing being proven for decades as much faster, easier, more flexible in service. Quarter turn valves and easier to use but more importantly they outlive multi-turn gate type valves when it come to service life. You need a crimping tool for the clamping band, and a band and thats pretty much it for installation. For the life of me I don't know why they call this "grey", it is bright chrome.

These Brasscraft 1/4 Turn Straight value are a must have in any plumbing bag. So easy to use and install it almost makes it fun. All you need is the value the pipe the Pex tool and a clamp ring. Just cut the Pex to the right length and insert the value and crimp on the ring. I like the straight value for under sinks cause you can just go straight up the the faucet with no bend.
