I don’t remember it they came with screws however I used a white coated screw from H D looks great to me..

The shutters are a light grey, and yes, you NEED to paint them. The plastic will break down after being exposed to the sun for long periods of time and fade. But think of it this way. You get the exact color you want by painting them, and you can use the cardboard box they come in to lay them on for spray painting them.

I used the Behr Acrylic paint with primer in the paint. Needed I normal and 1 light coat.

The shutter locks are cheap plastic and will bend easily so need to be certain holes in the shutter and the house are lined up and deep enough. Once the locks are bent they need to be cut to remove them. The box that the shutter comes in will have all the install and hole size dimensions that you will need. The depth of the hole will be critical as if too shallow the lock will bend. The locks can be cut if you can't get the hole deep enough. Good measurement is important for the success of the project. I used Behr Acrylic paint with primer in it - worked great.
