About This Product

Hidden deck screws for any board.Hide your deck screws with the CAMO MARKSMAN system. Any wood or composite board in any square or grooved board profile, Edge hidden deck screws are the best way to enjoy the beauty of your deck top without seeing your fasteners.Edge hidden deck screws are installed on the edge of the deck board, hiding the fastener while protecting the face of the deck board. The rake tip design of the screw augers material as it is driven, leaving you with a fastener free deck surface that is less prone to splitting and cracking. Not only does this system improve the overall look of your deck, but it holds stronger than a traditional face fastener. When a deck board is face fastened, the head of the screw or nail is keeping your board in place. Edge hidden deck screws leverage the strength of the entire screw to hold your deck board in place.Edge Hidden Deck Screws are easy to install using either the CAMO DRIVE system or the Marksman system. Available in PROTECH exterior coating and 316 stainless steel.

Q:Can I use the Pro Tech coated screws on a fresh water dock project, or do I need to use stainless steel screws ?Pete

    Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your question! Even though your dock is going to be built around fresh water, we still recommend our 2-3/8 in. or 1-7/8 in. 316 Stainless Steel Trimhead Deck Screws. Due to the abnormal amount of moisture your build will experience this will provide the best protection.

Q:Can I use the camo edge screws for a face screws?
      by|Jul 6, 2023

      Answer This Question

A:  We do not recommend using these screws for face fastening. When you face fasten a deck board, the head holds down the board. These screws are designed for edge fastening, which pins the board down with the entire shank of the screw. We DO recommend edge fastening your boards!

Q:Hello, I built and maintained my 27 year old cedar deck with 5/4 x 6 boards. In Minnesota cedar expands and contracts a lot. Some boards also want to bend over time. How long has this Camo system been tested in cedar applications?

        Answer This Question

A:  CAMO’s Edge fasteners have been on the market for over 12 years with tremendous success. We have not had any issues reported with Cedar. Three things to consider as you look to install your cedar decking: 1. Make sure to choose stainless steel screws. Cedar tends to be corrosive, so stainless steel is best practice to protect your deck. 2. Space your boards appropriately. We recommend the 3/16” gap. 3. Make sure your deck has proper cross-ventilation. Cedar is beautiful and we are so happy to hear you are considering keeping the face of your boards free of screw marks with CAMO Edge fasteners!

          Impossible to remove and brittle
Initially the system seems fine and works as intended. But on a treated wood deck it became impossible to remove the screws when a repair was needed. The heads either stripped or the screw just rotated in place. The had to be cut out from underneath or ripped out with the deck board. After being in place for only 3 years, we noticed that the screw’s were already rusting as well and could be snapped with fingers. Company unresponsive so buy and use at your own discretion

Yet I would stock the 1/16 in spacer model as well as the 3/16. I was half way through our or deck and realized that the space will only get bigger as the wood "settles". Other that that we'll see how it holds up as opposed to top nail or screwing. I think the look is awesome! Highly recommend this system....

A great product to install with the Camo Pro Deck Tool, this allows you to fasten the deck board on the sides to the deck. Saves time on the installation of the deck boards and a better way to secure the boards to the deck. This will eliminate the deck rot due to the water going through the screws on the flat side of the board. With this T-15 Trimhead Deck Screw( Protech Coated), no splitting of the wood and a small hole on each side of the boards on each joist. This has been installed for about a month and will have years of service. Thanks for a great product.

This fastening system has been around for many years and has stood the test of time. Using these fasteners can be a learning process. These are good for the professional as well as the DIY homeowner. On thing to take note of however, these fastener will typically NOT pull down lumber that is warped, cupped or bowed. So keep that in mind. These work best on flat high grade lumber.

It is a straightforward jig. It provides a nearly blind screw hole. I used this on grooved trex with decent results. The screws left plastic tags where they drilled into the trex. I'm not sure if this method is faster than using blind clips. Doing 200 sq foot deck took me around 6-7 hours to fasten.

Bought these screws with the Camo deck jig to replace my deck floor. I used 2x6 cedar tone pressure treated lumber and had no problems with the screws not going through. It is time consuming compared to using a nail gun to fasten the deck boards to the joist but I really like the smooth look and don't have to worry about the nails popping up. The Camo deck jig works great. Bought this over the Kreg so I didn't have to drill the screw hole and then fasten the screw.
