Q:After peeling pink strip off, do I put the pink (adhesive side) on the connection or does the the NON-Adhesive side go on the connection?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, After removed the isolation film (the pink), please stretch the self-fusing tape by 10% to 100% and overlap it by 50%. The end should pressed down before fusion to avoid warping. And actually this tape has't the difference of front or back. Regards, Averydennison Yongle Tape

A:  The adhesive side goes on the wire and self-seals when you wrap the tape around the wire.

      Answer This Question

A:  No. It has a plastic backing that has to be peeled off before applying.

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  Not sure I understand the question correctly, but if you mean "does it have a disposable backing to expose the adhesive," yes it does.

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  No, the tape has a liner tape to prevent self-sticking.

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  It has a pink backing so that it does not stick to itself in the roll.

      Answer This Question

A:  you have to stretch it/pull it as you wrap it around the wire(s). It will then adhere and will form a nice barrier against weather and abrasion.

A:  Pull it taut as you wrap. I always end with a some vinyl tape to keep it in place.

A:  I find that when I take the plastic wrap off and stretch the rubber tape while applying, it sticks well. It is recommended that you apply a vinyl tape over the top, but since I am testing the product I find it is working well without the vinyl tape application.

      by|Feb 17, 2017

A:  Stretching while wrapping is necessary to produce the self fusing quality. It really can't be stretched too much, except that the thickness and width is reduced. Once fused, it becomes a solid waterproof mass, and has to be cut away to remove.

This rubber splicing tape is thicker than vinyl tape, sticks well to itself, and stretches so that it fits snugly over spliced wires or a wire nut. The package says that it’s suitable for up to 600 volts. It’s difficult to separate the pink backing from the rubber tape — the backing is there to prevent the tape’s sticking to itself in the roll, but it’s worth the effort to get a snug fitting cover over your splice.

I have always used plain old black electrical tape when making electrical repairs or when trying to protect wires from damage as they rub against other harder surfaces. I saw this rubber splicing tape and decided to give it a try even though it is more expensive. I was surprised at how well it works. As other reviewers have noted, you have to pull it/stretch it while you apply it and it will stick very well, in fact you will have to cut it off because it will not come apart. It also is much thicker and provides a better protective surface against abrasion.

        Nice Secure Tape!
I hired a commercial electrician to put in a single to three phase converter for me and noticed that the rubber connector going to a refrigeration unit had begun to unravel, partly due to the taping job and partly due to extreme summer temperatures in the AZ desert. After I had used this tape once before on an inside job and I liked the way it stretches and binds, I thought, "This is the perfect application to really give this product the ultimate test." I am attaching before and after pictures to facilitate my explanation. I really like the way it stretches and binds. This rubber splicing tape is good stuff, I would definitely recommend it!

This type of tape works a lot better for outdoor connections than does regular electrical tape. It holds up under the sun for years. My go-to choice for things like taping extension cords together.
