Q:I am concerned at this point because I just brought new plants delivered straight from the nursery. Also, I used mircle grow potting soil from the store. The Jade, Succulent and Aloe just fell apart in the pot. I’m going read about each new one, but those old ones I would like to know what I could have done wrong.

A:  not growing. hope it lives

by|May 19, 2022

A:  Hey; Lizard: I don't know if you're saying you bought one of these plants at Home Depot, was it a Costa Farms Plant? But I had mine delivered in the mail, and it came in a nice little white ceramic pot: The directions said that it shouldn't need to be repotted for quite a while. Also, the instructions say to be very cautious about watering too much! Mine started to lose leaves, but I let up on watering, by a lot! It should be in a bright but not direct sun spot. So far, I have no complaints at all about Costa Farms Plant folks, or any of the plants... I even took a small cutting from the original and it is coming right along. I would have left the original soil mix in the plant pot, so maybe it's the miracle gro soil that doesn't suit the fiddle leaf plant. Does he still have any green growing? I hope you can take a bit of it and plant it in some other soil, maybe start over fresh! Good luck with them.

Q:Do you feed plants everytime you water and do you eventually have to remove from the growing pot

Answer This Question

A:  I've just moved the plant into a larger pot. I only went up to what I consider "the next size" where it will continue to grow. I use plant food when I repot, but certainly not each time I water - that would be too much of a good thing.

by|May 4, 2021

    A:  No

    by|Sep 13, 2023

A:  I removed it and put it in a bigger pot. You only feed the plant once a month not every time you water it.

A:  Hi, Newbie; I don't think you will have to repot for a long time, maybe 3 or 4 years, but only if they look uncomfortable - and I would hold off on fertilizer unless a little bit once or twice a season. Mine are doing great. Don't water more than they absolutely require. Good luck!

        Answer This Question

A:  This plant is a "dwarf" variety, so it is best suited as a coffee table type plant - one that provides a small, living accent to your living area. It will grow a little larger, but not by much. If you want one of those larger plants of the same variety that grow up to six feet tall, you will have to purchase a different variety.

A:  Hi! The Fiddle Leaf Fig is not a palm tree but a Ficus. It is also known as the Ficus Lyrata. We hope this helps!

        by|Oct 1, 2020

A:  Yes I got it when they said, but the problem is it’s starting to look bad, Im tiring to help it get back to looking good. I followed everything about the plant that they sent me so Let’s hope it rebounds some what. If not it’s money gone and I will never buy this type of plant again.

          by|Oct 23, 2020

A:  This is not a type of palm. This is like a fig tree it has big leaves and they also call it the fiddle leaf. The small one has smaller leaves and is a nice indoor plant.

            Answer This Question

A:  It can get very tall or you can control the height with cutting back. Do it in spring, when it is beginning to wake up. Do not do over winter when more dormant. sometimes it can get top heavy , with trunk not big enough to support weight. I have 2 that are tall (18 feet) and they have a plant support to keep straight.

            by|May 7, 2020

A:  Hello, MK: I am so happy with mine, I can't imagine being too mad about it growing to be ten feet tall, my foyer has a ceiling of like twenty feet, so let it grow! But as I'm reading about them, it is said that they can become bigger than one might want. About 20 feet tall! You can also trim the main 'trunk' at a point where you're happy with the height, say it's five feet tall and that's where you want it to stay, you can cut the top of the plant off to keep it at that size, but it will become more bushy and thick after that. I hope you will enjoy it!

              House Plants
I gave these plants as a house warming gift to my niece. She was so happy with them and that made me feel so good. They were well wrapped and protected. The plants were healthy too and that was a big plus. I'll do this again.

Dead on Arrival Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant - was my sad experience with this product. The plant arrived securely wrapped and that was the most positive experience with this product....the packaging. After that everything went down hill FAST!! When I unwrapped it 3 dead leaves were in the box. The plant had several brown spots all over the leaves. 2 new growth leaves at the very top of the plant edges were brown and crumbled with several holes. How can you ship a plant in such deplorable condition to a customer. I understand that in transit you may have slight damage but this totally unacceptable to actually ship the plant from your facility in such deplorable condition. I contacted Costa Farms via email and attached photos on two occasions and they still have not responded. Shame on you!!!

I don't often write bad reviews but I had to this time. The item arrived quickly on February 4, 2021 and so you have a sense of timing of this review, today is February 14, 2021- 10 days later. It was nicely packaged and arrived without damage to the pot or the plant itself. Upon taking it out of the box, I immediately noticed that the bottom 2 leaves had a small area of brown on them. I thought it odd but it didn't seem like a big deal. I also felt the plant was much smaller than I expected for something costing almost $40. Each day the brown areas on those 2 leaves have continued to grow and this is where things are in less than 2 weeks (see photos). The plant is clearly diseased and since it arrived a few days after I ordered it, and it arrived already with issues, it suggest it was mailed with defects already present. If I had purchased this from the local Home Depot I would have returned this immediately. Obviously when items are purchased online it because more problematic to package them and mail them back. I am very disappointed in this purchase. The size of the plant did not justify the price, but I would have dealt with it since plants do grow, but with the diseased leaves, this is now unacceptable. Buyer beware.

I Ordered the Little Fiddle on Saturday, it was shipped Monday and I received it Thursday. It was probably really full when it was shipped, but there were many leaves that had fallen off and were in the box, along with some very droopy leaves. Granted, it came through Hurricane Laura to get to Louisiana from Florida. The part that was left seems healthy and hopefully it will perk up and get full again. I’m not sure if I would order another plant online from Home Depot or Costa Farms. I will say that it was packaged well.

This is beautiful! I’ve wanted one for sometime. The value is amazing. I got 5 stems (technically 6, but the 6th is very small and starting to grow out as you will see in the pictures) AND it comes with a cover pot! My local nursery sells one stem in a 5 inch grow pot for 19.99!! The cover pot has no holes, which is fine because of the grow pot. A few leaves had fallen off inside the box and only one leave has brown, but other than that, it is absolutely gorgeous. It came so securely packed in the box, the pot was wrapped in plastic and under that was paper to keep dirt from falling out. I am so excited to watch him grow.
