A:  No it will not, the TEE is for use with ¼” microtubing only.

Q:These tees are incredibly difficult to insert into 1/4 inch tubing. Why?

A:  If they were easy to slip in, then they would also slip out easily when there is water pressure in the tubes. Tip: Heat up the end of the tube with a blow dryer before inserting the tee. It'll go in much easier.

A:  The barbs are bigger than other brands. There are some brands that dont have any barb, just a smooth insert. These work fine as long as your water pressure isnt too high ( >100 psf?)

A:  I had the exact same issue, i couldn't get them to insert into the 1/4 tubing. I took the advice of slightly heating up the tubing with a blowdryer and that worked great.

A:  I generally have to twist and rock to get them in. I suppose I could use some warm water on the tubing to make it easier, but so far had felt the need

A:  I get it. Use rubberized work gloves to move the line onto the connector back & forth in a rocking manner. It will work. Warm line better than cold. More flexible. Perhaps leave the drip line in the sun for a bit to warm up & soften.

A:  Heat water to a boil. Remove from heat and soak the end of the 1/4" tubing in the hot water for a few minutes. This softens the tubing and the 1/4" Barb Tee should slide right in (with much less effort)..

Q:I installed one 1/4" barb tee into the 1/2" poly tubing and it started leaking. I have 4 more 1/4" barb tees to install but worried they will all leak. I don't want a bunch of leaking fittings as I don't want to waste water all over the driveway. Am I doing something wrong?

              Answer This Question

A:  I may have had a leak or two but my main problem was the way it was made it was very hard to insert into the 1/4" tubing. I went back to buying my supplies at Orchard Supply Hardware. More expensive but I can easily assemble my drip.

A:  It’s difficult to say with certainty if you are doing anything “wrong” or not based on the information provided. It may be a case of too much pressure due to the fact that only one tee is installed. We suggests that you make sure that you have a pressure regulator installed at the beginning of the line, and (if necessary) to call our toll free number 800.344.2281 from the site for live troubleshooting assistance over the phone.

A:  Did you punch the hole with the proper tool? If so I do not know.

                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  Presuming the tubing is the correct type for the fitting, (size and material), did you force the tubing onto the fitting with or without softening the tubing? If the tubing is rigid, soften the tubing by using boiling water as a 'dip' for about 1 minute, for the tubing end, then place tubing onto the fitting. If the tubing is not rigid, I use a zip tie to hold it. For hard tubing, (designed to be under continual pressure) this helps mold the tube to the fitting. Please check the fitting to tubing compatibility, since there are slight differences in sizes between manufacturers.

Q:Will these work/fit snugly on 3/8 (outside) diameter soaker hose?

                        Answer This Question

A:  Not likely unless the wall is quite thick, The inside diameter needs to be about 1/8". The "shoulders" on the barb tees are approximately 3/16" and the orifice is approx. 1/8" so they may cause flow resistance and loss of pressure with your larger diameter soaker hose as well.

These barbs are a bit large. It is best you use a tool to insert them. But once they are in they hold fast. Great product for pro landscapers.

These Barb Tees were needed so I could connect more planters to my existing drip system. With a little finger strength I was able to insert the barbs into existing and new 1/4 tubing. Upon testing, they did not leak. So, they work as described. I had to got to a second Home Depot to find them in stock.

I've completed a large system using DIG products. Many have complained that the components require a lot of muscle to connect. While it's true that all parts are a tight fit, NONE OF THE CONNECTIONS LEAK OR BLOW APPART. If that's important, ya can't go wrong with DIG.
