Hi Terry: No, a rain sensor is not built in, a wired rain sensor must be purchased separately. The sensor must be installed where it will receive unobstructed rainfall. Hi Bri: No this will not work with a rain bird valve. The product includes a 3/4" DIG in line valve and two hose thread adapters so you can connect it to PVC pipe or a hose bib/garden hose. Thank you for your interest in DIG irrigation products! :)

I used it with 4 rain bird 3500 rotors and it picked them up very nice

It is simply a value, line any other normal wired valve. The only difference is that this is battery operated. depending on the number of rotors, you might want to get one with a 1" connection instead of a 3/4" connection, but regardless, it should work as well as any other valve. The solenoid is attached (hard wired) to the timer and it looks like a standard solenoid. I am not familiar with the irritol value but if it uses a standard solenoid it should work. Hope this helps.....

The RBC 7000 battery operated controller included a 3/4" valve. To mount the controller on Irritrol valve, follow these steps. 1. Unthread the solenoid from the controller valve. 2. Unthread the solenoid adapter from the valve, make sure that the O-ring and the sleeve are in place on the adapter. 3. Turn off the water supply into the Irrirtol valve. 4. Unthread and remove the AC solenoid from the Irritrol valve. 5. Thread the controller solenoid adapter into the Irritrol valve, make sure that the O-ring and the sleeve are in place on the adapter. 6. Thread the controller DC solenoid into the adapter, hand tightening only. 7. Turn the water supply on, the valve will open momentarily and then shut off. 8. Push the manual button on the controller and perform a manual run, the valve will open. Push the button again, the valve will close. Program the controller. 9. theoretically, you could, but it's only a valve open/closer, so you'd be limited to whatever water pressure gravity is giving you. You might be better looking for some sort of water pump on a timer, depending on what you're trying to do

I would imagine that it would work okay with a couple of conditions to keep in mind. To work with a rain barrel system, the flow of water witn time is about the only point of control to fill the barrel. Obvious that flow and time are the key words. Time can be set with this control valve easily enough. Flow will depend on other points like water pressure in the system into which it is connected, and how consistent the pressure is with time, users, and temperature. If those are stable then there is not much of a problem. If not, there could be another idea. This valve has extended connection that can be used for a rain shut off sensor. Maybe that can be converted to detect when the barrel is full.... Do I know this? No. Just an idea.

The RBC 7000 operate at a minimum pressure of 10 PSI, so you will need to raise the barrel very high. Every 10 feet high you gain 4.33 PSI. Base on this information the RBC 7000 is not recommended. DIG

I think this is all about pressure. The value may turn on but if there is not enough pressure to "push" the water through the system it will not work. Hope this helps.....

The RBC 7000 is a battery powered hydraulic solenoid valve that requires at least 10 psi to open and close reliably. That is more than a rain barrel can provide. The best timer for this application would be a mechanical (wind up type) hose end timer which are not made by DIG. First, will it work manually? if you select the manual button will the water actually flow? If not check the flow of water to the valve. Assuming water is flowing to the value, then there is a screw in the center of the valve, make sure that that screw is open (it normally comes in the open position from the factory), also you can try backing off the solenoid a l little to see if that might open up the flow of water through the value. If all the timers are set properly then it should automatically open the value to let the water flow. make sure the rain option is turned off as well as a test. Hope this helps. I have 5 of these around the house and have never had this issue.

Yes, DIG RBC 7000 can operate on a weekly schedule or any day from 1 to 30 days. To program the timer to operate every 30 days. Push the center button and scroll and select the day of the week icon. Press the right button and skip the day of the week, Odd days , Even days until you reach 1 day. Press the up button until 30 days appears. Press the center button. From what I have seen, it runs on a weekly cycle. You set the days you want it to turn on/off and then the hours you want it on/off (up to 4 per day). You can set even days, odd days, and X days where X is a number from 1-30. So yes you can. I had to test this on a new unit I just purchased and followed the instructions on page 12.
