About This Product

Be sure your HEPA vacuum is certified. The Dustless Technologies HEPA Vacuum is certified and provides many benefits not found in other vacuums. A lot of manufacturers claim to have a HEPA vacuum, but many are not certified. If an EPA inspector walks onto your job site, and your HEPA vacuum is not certified, you can be fined up to $32,500. The Micro Pre-filter makes this vacuum very cost-efficient to use over time because of how it extends the life of the HEPA filter. It captures particles down to 0.5 micron very close to the HEPA filtration of 0.3 micron. Because the HEPA filter is used for just the tiniest of particles, it can last up to 30 times longer when used with a Micro Pre-filter. The Dustless HEPA Wet/Dry Vacuum can be used to vacuum up water without fear of getting your valuable HEPA filter wet. A baffle wall inside the canister keeps water from reaching the HEPA filter, under normal operation. Go back and forth between wet and dry operation without stopping to change filters or make other adjustments. This vacuum emits only 81 dB of noise, has a powerful 5 HP motor, runs at 24,140 RPMs and produces 76.9 in. water lift at 126 CFM. A 16 Gal. Canister and Micro Pre-filter bag support optimum air flow while holding up to 40 lbs. of dirt and debris.

The vent is to the front! It blows into what I try to vacuum up. Wanted to vent it outside, and can't. Does it work? Don't know. How would you know? The particles are too fine. Air tight seal? Not sure.

              Good vac, Great company
I've owned this machine for 6 years, cleaning up lead paint, asbestos, raccoon latrines, and more. I'll tell you a story: I had a scare some years back about the filtering efficacy of my vacuum and I actually drove down to Price, UT (I live in Salt Lake City) to make sure that the machine was truly filtering as designed. The folks there were super cool and brought my vac up to their lab where they used a laser particle counter to measure the seals and exhaust port. I watched in relief as the number on the display of the laser particle counter dropped from 200,000 to 0. That said, though the filtration and the company are awesome, there are some aspects of it that make it difficult to use in a hazardous particle-laden setting. For example, one reviewer mentioned that they always see dust on the outside body of their vac after they're done vacuuming. They may have a defective vac, but most likely they're experiencing what I do, which is that static electricity magnetizes dust to the plastic body of the vacuum (the hose too). It doesn't make sense that a machine used for vacuuming hazardous dust would attract hazardous dust to itself. But you just have to make sure to vacuum the vacuum itself, and thoroughly wipe it with Dawn dishsoapy microfiber cloths at the end of every dangerous job. Someone else mentioned how the Wunderbag slips off the port. That's happened to me a couple times through the years too. I've taken to gorilla-taping the cardboard flap on the Wunderbag to the inside of the vac canister. It'd be nice if that were more robust. The model I got had crappy black caster wheels that shattered a year ago. I'm happy to see that Dustless now puts more robust caster wheels on the unit. The yellow clips that hold the top half of the vac to the bottom half are also not made to last a lifetime. I've cracked two of them over the years. The suction is strong enough that I can vacuum up pea-sized chunks of concrete, bolts, screws, etc. but I still wish it could kick up another 50% and I could vacuum up shooter-marble-sized chunks of concrete! If I got to change one main thing about this machine it'd be to have an anti-static hose (or at least a replaceable anti-static sleeve that could be slipped over the hose). It's incredibly crazy and dangerous that the hose, which is dragged all over a jobsite, and actually ATTRACTS dust, is so virtually impossible to thoroughly clean. Where do you clean it? How? Maybe they could invent an attachment specifically for vacuuming the hose at the end of a job. But then what about that last couple feet of hose? Maybe you remove the hose, and you run it through a hose-cleaning-attachment that's plugged directly into the port inlet on the side of the vac? Other wishes would be to have the option for a motorized beater bar brush, and about 50% more suction when I needed it. It'd also be awesome to have some kind of indicator(s) that told me when, definitively, I needed to replace a filter or filter cover. Right now I figure out that things need to be changed the old fashioned way: by observing a reduction in sucking ability, by the sound, by the heaviness of the machine when I pick it up, and by remembering when the last time I changed things was (not that effective a method!). Even though I'm kind of pointing out what's lacking in this unit, I think of my Dustless fondly, and am confident that it's going to clean what I need it to clean. Most importantly, unlike a million other crappy companies out there - you're buying from an AMERICAN COMPANY!!! And when you call them they actually PICK UP THE PHONE and CARE about their product, because they've designed it themselves and made them right there in Price. They're real people, and they'll talk to you. Try it! If there was a category for "humane-ness" they'd get 100 stars in that category.

I have Asthma, and I had a ton of basement cleaning to do. Lots of concrete dust has fallen off of my basement walls over the years. I started this job with my other cheaper vacs, I wore a respirator during the job, but you could see dust everywhere after I was done. No matter what you do, that dusty air works its way into the house. You could get a ton of hose and put the vacuum outside, but that is not ideal either. Loss of suction, costs a bunch, storage after done, etc. That is when I found Dustless shop vacs. The value of the features in this vacuum are WAY more than just working on hazardous jobs. The amount of baffling in this vacuum is what every shop vac should have. It completely surrounds the main Hepa filter and there is just 1 opening about the size of the vacuum's hose. You will see it's effectiveness after the very first job. Have you ever banged your clogged filter on the side of your tank just to get suction back, to get through the job? The Dustless vac's cloth bags & baffling barely lets anything near the Hepa filter in the first place. But it also has a weight in the filter to knock dust off while you are moving the vac during the job! My new Dustless vac just sucked up 15 lbs of concrete dust. There is almost nothing that made it to the second pre filter. By the looks of it the second pre-filter, I can't imagine much has even reached the Hepa filter underneath yet. As I mentioned, there is a pre-filter on the Hepa filter which is what I expected to find from the description. But the cloth bags they also give you are the first pre-filter, and they go right on the hose inlet. These bags are good on wet or dry jobs. With other shop vacs, I always found it tough to empty the water without dumping the garbage in the water down your sink drain. This bag system fixes that by holding the garbage and letting the water through. No more straining with your fingers or reaching in to dirty water to unclog your sink to get rid of the water. You can remove the motor & Hepa filter assembly with just a few clips. Pull the pre-filter bag of garbage out. Because the motor and Hepa filter separates from the main baffle, you can easily rinse the light dust off the baffle parts, base/tank, and your Dustless vac is practically new again. Cleanup is really that easy and very little dust makes it past the bag. Its like the Dustless engineers have actually used other shop vacs before, and addressed all the problems that other shop vacs have. This the only shop vac I will ever own moving forward.
