Asked by: Zinski
The motor needs to stay above any and all water levels. The base and column are submersible. Thanks.

Can it run continually without overheating?
Asked by: Meatman
"NO" Only if the motor nameplate data has a service factor rating of 1.0 , 1.15 or equal. That is why NEMA requires this type of information on every electrical motor. If it's less than a service factor of 1.0, and run continuously, it will eventually open the thermal switch, "hopefully" and continue to do so until cooled down and reset or sticks closed, and burns up. This all depend upon ambient that it is operating in. Thermal switches or overloads are used only as a means to protect the motor, not as a motor control device!

The hole in the base is larger than those in any previous five or six sump pumps I've had - and with very fine threads in comparison to the others. What PVC fitting screws into that hole?
Asked by: HoustonMi
based upon your question, I'm guessing the old pump that you are replacing was a 1/3 HP vs the new pump that is 1/2 HP. A visit to your nearby Home Depot plumbing dept and you should be able to find a PVC reducer that is threaded to fit the new pump and fit the outlet piping that you already have in place. If you are able take a piece of the old piping with you, along with the installation instructions for the new pump, I'm sure the master plumbing representative will be able to help you.
