About This Product

Endura Flap Pet Doors for Walls are manufactured in the USA to be flexible, safe, and energy efficient in all climates. Translucent, dual-pane flaps seals tightly against the outside weather using a patented system of magnets. This pet door has two, dual-layered flaps (on outside frame and inside frame) for superior energy efficiency. Due to the strong magnetic seal, it may not be suitable for timid dogs (a single flap option is avialable). When closed, the flaps significantly reduce air conditioning and heat loss and withstand winds up to 50 mph. Each unit permanently installs into your wall, up to eight (8) inches thick and includes a locking security panel. Comes with: Interior and exterior frame, aluminum wall tunnel, security panel, mounting hardware and installation instructions. Available in three colors: White, Black and Tan. 15-year warranty!

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello. Thanks for your question. Yes it very weather resistant. Each Flap is dual layered trapping air between the two layers for greater insulating value than a single layered pet door flap. Each vertical side has a full length magnet sealing off the sides. The bottom is also sealed using magnets in a floating threshold. The magnets make the flaps resistant to winds up to 50 mph. Lastly, the flap is made from polyolefin which does not harden and shrink in temperatures as low as -40. Hope these features help you understand this patented pet door better. -Endura Flap Customer Service

          Great Doggie Door
Great quality… double flaps are great. Both my dogs can easily use it but my cat can’t get out, magnets are strong.

We've tried various dog doors over the years but this one is in a class by itself. The last one lasted 16 years and never let in the cold... we only got a new one because we moved! We left the new one behind. The new one we got is one for the wall, and it is just as awesome as the old one we had in the door. This door has magnets all along the sides and bottom to hold the door shut and it's an insulated plastic. It's really just so so so so much better than other dog doors. The initial investment is a bit more, but you will be VERY happy with how it holds up and how it doesn't blow open and let in the weather.

I am impressed with this pet door. Solid state quality and although it says it is for a wall installation I don't see any reason you couldn't install onto a door. Directions are straight forward providing a template to match the size of the pet door. I did find the tunnel a bit confusing at first but is quite easy. After you cut the rectangle hole that your pet door will be attached to you will measure the length of the tunnel and then trim the metal sheets according to your measurements and then secure them onto one side of the pet door and slide the tunnel and door through your opening. Max Tunnel depth is 8" (inches) longer will require you to make your own tunnel walls. This project will take you some time. expect at least an hour or 2 if going through your wall. Going through a door I expect it would be considerably less time and effort. The door has two flaps one for the inside of the house and another for the outside of the house. They are universal so either door can go inside or outside. Each door is double insulated and thick flexible plastic/rubber like material. I particularly like the side of the doors with flex (see pic) to give you a complete secure closure all around to keep the cold/heat in or out depending on the season. The doors secure via a magnet on all 3 sides. bottom and each side. The bottom magnet plate will slide up naturally when the door closes to make a secure connection. Best part is the pet door Lock. It is a solid closure that completely covers the door (pic) to prevent the door from being used or tampered with from within the tunnel. Better the just plain old tabs. Again either door can accommodate the secure lock so need to worry which door goes on the inside of the house just install the door facing the correct direction. The lock slides down into place and locks at the top. I thought the door would be a bit narrow for my dog and was thinking this might be too small (Yorky) but actually it worked out perfect. Our dog is full grown and she had no trouble passing through the door. As you measure your dog's height make sure you also measure your dog's width too. Most pet doors just mention the height but forget to mention the importance of the dog's width. For these model see the pic with the template and are as follows: Width for each size Small - 6" Medium - 8" Large - 10" X-Large - 12" Comes with screws for the tunnel and may need to be trimmed if your tunnel is shorter than the Max of 8" long. also comes with sealant for weather caulking which is nice for pet owners who do not not use or have a caulking and caulking gun/applicator.

I haven't installed this yet, but I have read through the directions and it will be a piece of cake. We are getting a fence installed at the end of the month, and once we have that in place, I'll add this for our pup. First and foremost, this is made in the USA, which is not that common nowadays (unfortunately). Also, the 15 year warranty is a nice bonus. Looking through this kit, it comes with everything to make this an easy, yet weather resistant installation. The gaskets on both pieces and silicone sealant will help keep this nicely weather resistant. Also, the hard cover insert is a must. Our dog would live outside if she could. Whether it's raining or sunshine, she loves being outside, so the door cover will be a necessity to keep her indoors on rainy days. The aluminum trim looks good but is also sturdy. I plan on adding this to a storm door on the back of our house versus cutting into our door. The storm door has acrylic or plexi-glass, but install will be the same either way. My dog is about 45lb and she will fit through here. If you have a larger dog, this may not work for you. All in all, I'm happy with this product.

I'm really impressed with this door. It looks pretty good and works great. I've never seen one with it's own tunnel between the inner and outer doors. It's an aluminum tunnel too. No fear of rust. This is a complete dog door from the inside to the outside. The rubber gasket on the back of the frame makes for a great seal against the interior wall. In my case, it was cinder block that was uneven to start with. I had to add wome weather stripping along the sides to get a good seal around the frame. I really like that the inner door with flap is a one piece assembly. The outer door is also a single piece. There was no risk of anything misaligning or being askew. The flap is great. It is double layered with a dead air space between the layers. It's much the same as my windows having two layers of glass to improve the energy efficiency. There are strong magnets along the bottom and both sides. When this flap is shut, no air is moving in or out. We have a gas fireplace about 4' from this door. With our old dog door, there was a gap along the bottom and sides that allowed cold air to enter and cause the fireplace to cycle on when the rest of the room is comfy. This new door has already solved that problem for us. I'm sure it'll help with the air conditioning's power consumption too. This door was about 4" taller than our old one. I had to remove concrete from the top and bottom of the opening to fit the tunnel in. It was also 1-1/2" narrower than our old one so I had to fur out the opening to allow for that. Other than the concrete work, the installation went pretty good. I did have a bit of a challenge getting the parts of the 4 pass through bolts to snap off once they were tight but I was able to get it eventually. I think I was just afraid of damaging the door. I like that the door panel has 2 actual latches so it can't be opened from outside. Both latches have to be released (pretty easy to do) from the inside before anyone or anything could gain access from outside. The finish is a glossy white and I think it's baked on. I slipped a couple of times and should have scratched the finish but it was unharmed. The locking cover is a stiffer, more brittle plastic. I think that would be the weak point of the construction if there is one. I don't fear it would become damaged from regular use, just from carelessness or abuse. The only part that might become a frequent cleaning task would be the flap. Time will tell. Overall, it's a really good dog door for us. It looks good and works very good. Now comes getting our pups to get over the fear of a new door and start using it themselves. I'm sure they'll adjust quickly. I created and solved anissue. I taped the door fully open to get the dogs used to going through it. When I let it down, it was going to the bottom and stopping quick. It seems that opening it beyond it's designed arc caused the magnet flaps to come out of the corner braces (grey parts). I held it open and pushed everything back in place. Easy fix if you make the same mistake I did. Photos: 1. Gage (B&W) & Zezzy (Brown) 2. Old door 3. New door 4. New door with locking cover in place . 5. Door exterior. Yes, I did lose 2 of the white caps. I'll contact the seller to get replacements.

Easy, nice looking and well made. I just moved into a home that I am renting. There was a dog kennel with an opening already in place but there was no cover so it was wide open to the out doors. No way to keep small animals out and it was wide open to the elements. I wasn't able to do a typical install because i didn't want to put any holes in the walls or anything else for which I might get penalized. This is a double door unit and it did take me about 3 days to train the dogs to use it. The doors have a magnetic strip at the bottom that hold the doors in place when not in use. This helps with keeping the cold out in the winter. I'm very impressed with this pet door. One of the highest quality ones I have come across. Will buy again.

I installed this door through a 6" exterior wall plus sheathing and wallboard. No major problems installing, but putting in the screws was difficult. I took the captive heads off and screwed from the outside-in, much easier that way. Door looks good installed, and my dog has no problems getting through the two doors.

Was a pain to install, but once I finally got it, it works out great. If I would have had a dealer in the area, I would have hire them to install it. Well built, solid and sturdy. I hated to spend almost $700, but with the reviews and comparisons, I didn't want to have to upgrade later. Is it worth $700, no, but like they say "You get what you pay for".
