Q:After the pump turns on and pumps the water out it gurgles, sounds like water is coming back in after pumping out. Any ideas?

A:  if the pipe what goes up is for example 10' and there is no more water in the box, the pump will shut down and fill the box again with the 10' remaining in the pipe. if the water keeps coming it pushes it out again. i think this is how it works?

Mixed reviews, we'll see what happens
I installed this unit under a utility tub, did all the line preparation before setting into place. Coming out of the pump outlet port, I down sized to a 1" PVC pipe from 1-1/2" and installed a 1" check valve, 1" union and plumbed it to the washing machine drain. Plumbed the drain from the sink to the side hole in the box. Also put a right angle fitting on the vent, but left that open. The only thing I don't like is water always staying in the container. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

I bought this unit to discharge washer wastewater up to an elevated DWV section in my house. For some reason, the manual included in the package only included the first 4 pages of installation which showed rough drawings of various installation types. The drawing CLEARLY shows the vent on the left side and the discharge on the right side when viewed from a side vantage point with the inlet on the right. I plumbed the unit following the drawing and upon commissioning the thing, proceeded to flood a section of my vent system. Upon looking at the full manual online, the discharge sure enough is on the left side when looking from the same perspective. Hopefully, my horizontal vents have the proper pitch so that all the water drained back into the sump. However, I had the pleasure of spending another 4+hours replumbing the proper configuration. THANKS EVERBILT!!!!

Hello floodedventman. We are very sorry about the issue that you had with the system. The drawings are meant only as guides and to verify you would have only had to look into the threaded holes in the system's cover to determine which one was the vent and which was the pumps discharge. Once again we are sorry about your experience. Jackel

Works well but float switch went bad just after a year, replaced switch and working fine again.
Even though several reviews are negative and indicate the float switch going bad prematurely, I figured most don't complain/review unless there's an issue so I proceeded and purchased this in July, 2015. Worked fine for a year and then started with the quick cycling on and off in August, 2016. As noted elsewhere in these reviews, this indicates a bad switch which I verified after removing pump assembly from the enclosure. I quick look at homedepot.com showed what looked like an identical replacement switch available in store. I took the old float switch with me to my Home Depot and compared with the replacement at the store which revealed it to be the exact same part. Overall, not thrilled to have to buy a $40 replacement part so soon but on the flip side, was happy it was quick and easy and I didn't have to spend another $230 on a complete unit.
