Questions & Answers

Does it have an internal float switch on and off?
ByOct 5, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Yes, it has an internal float switch. The switch is a set of "dry" contacts. It can interrupt an external circuit if the circuit is wired through it. It is for low-voltage control circuits, not line voltage. It is normally closed, opens when tank is full.

Will this work for an ice maker

    Answer This Question

It's a condensate pump. If the icemaker produces water (odd) and has a hose that water gets expelled by, then place the hose in this pump. If you're thinking of something else, no.

I want to hook up the safety switch. One wire says common for the thermostat which is easy enough. The other says to wire to the system. Not sure where to wire in the other wire

          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

The overflow safety switch on this condensate pump is designed to interrupt power to the HVAC system in case of a pump failure. The "system" wire should be connected to the control circuit of your HVAC system that supplies power to the unit. This will typically be connected to the 24V control transformer circuit on the furnace or air handler. Consult the wiring diagram for your specific HVAC system to identify the correct connection point for the safety switch. If you are unsure about any part of this process, it is best to consult a qualified HVAC technician.

          Can I use a 50' hose with a 6' rise?
          ByOct 20, 2024
          2 Answers |
          Answer This Question

I can't answer your question directly, but it has been working very well for me for over a decade with a 10 foot rise and a 30 foot hose.

The included hose is 20 feet long and the pump has a 20-foot vertical lift capacity. Using a 50-foot hose with a 6-foot rise *may* work, but it could also impact the pump's efficiency and potentially cause issues. It's best to stick within the manufacturer's recommended specifications.

I bought this 3 to 4 years ago (date on unit is 06/2021). About a month ago it started not shutting off automatically. Today, I found it overflowing. Opened it up to see what was wrong, and I find the float switch is sticking in both the on and off positions. No outward signs of dirt or damage to the switch. Motor, physical float, and all other components are fine. It is a shame that this $100 pump has to be junked because of the failure of such a cheap component.

              Buyer beware
I bought this condensate pump from my local Home Depot June 2024. The installation was easy and it worked for the remaining warm summer months. Now, April 2025 as the HVAC needed to come back on again, the pump no longer worked. It seems there is likely an issue with the float mechanism as it would light up that it was ready, but the pump motor would not go on and only went into an overflow mode, not allowing the HVAC unit to come back on without me suctioning out water with my wet dry vac. So I had a $150 bill to have it replaced by my HVAC unit servicer. I attempted to return it to my local Home Depot as it had not even been one year old and as it had been outside the 90 days of purchase, they denied me the return. Very Disappointed in this product and very disappointed in the lack of backing from Home Depot who up to this time has been my main go to hardware store.

So far so good with this pump. Previously used little giants pumps and both failed shortly after installing them. This pump is able to pump a 9 foot vertical with a 10 foot horizontal distance with no problems.

                SHORT LIFE!
Set up to remove basement dehumidifier condensate. Shorted out and burned up the electrical board. Was only used in summer months. Manufactured 3/20…failed 8/23. I estimate it was in operation less than18 mos. Caused a huge mess in a carpeted area.

Instructions say top is reversible, but they don't tell you how to do it...
...So I will. Mine (as most of yours will be) is a replacement for a failed pump - 1-year-old Little Giant condensate pump, the likes of which will never be purchased again. The top of the EB-PUMP is held to the bottom by four big interference-fit tabs and two small ones molded into the top with matching slots molded into the tank. the slots do not cut through to the outside of the tank, but you can see where they are by the distortions in the outside of the tank caused by the thin areas cooling faster than the rest of the tank when it was molded. After searching Home Depot's site and most of the internet for a clue, followed by much poking and prying, I found the best way to open the beast in order to reverse the top is to lay the unit on its side with the mounting tabs up. While Pressing down on the dome of the top with your thumbs (Green arrows in the picture), lift up on the mounting tabs with-your fingers (Blue arrows) and the beast will pop apart. You might also need to have someone tweak the little plastic tabs molded into the tank (Orange arrows) up as well, but I didn't. Surprisingly easily. Which really challenges my faith in the thing's ability to hold together in use. We shall see... To finish the job, turn the top 180° degrees on the tank relative to the mounting tabs, and reassemble by pressing the top back into the tank. Be sure to press the little molded-in tabs (Orange arrows) in the center of each side inward towards the top to ensure the tabs are all engaged when you're done. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth if you don't and it pops open when filling with water. Per the product, I haven't installed it yet. I like that it has indicators for power, run (I suspect this is triggered by the float), and alarm (something ain't right). Hopefully the thrust bearings in this one won't fail they way the Little Giant has. The one before the Little GIant was about 40 years old before it failed - they don't make things like that anymore, I guess. Since I haven't installed it and don't have any operational experience with it, and since the instructions left a fairly critical point out, I'm only going to give it 3 stars. I'll come back to it later and update this.

Getting our fourth year in our new home and sure shooting this unit failed as commented by some of the other Customer comments. Too much of a coincidence for me. This unit is not really ready for prime time.!
