Questions & Answers

Im using this on my painting canvas can i use a hand held heated dryer to dry the resin?

Asked by: Jeremy
Using a blow dryer, a heat gun, or a torch will help with the chemical reaction that causes the epoxy to cure. It's not going to help dry it like paint though. I realize by now you've already tried the blow dryer, or some other type of heating device, but I'm writing this for others reading the answer as well. Another advantage of heating the epoxy is it allows you to remove drips and drops easier.

They have suggestions in their pamphlet BUT if it's not totally dry use a heat gun or blow dryer set on low and go about 6 inches above your project and move the heat source back and forth slowly. IF it is dry I am not sure if there is anything you can do.......

1 gal. Glaze Coat Clear Epoxy Kit is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT USE ON WHITE OR LIGHT PROJECTS As I write this review I can not help the tears that are falling. My husband and I spent an entire weekend using 2 of these epoxy kits for our countertop. We painted it white and proceeded to pour the epoxy resin on top. The initial finished product was stunningly beautiful but sadly within 24 hours we noticed it was yellowing. I frantically searched online for answers. After talking directly with the manufacturer I discovered they do not add a UV protectant to this product and therefore over the next few months I can expect to have a contertop that will continue to yellow. Why is this not LABELED ON THE PRODUCT! CAUTION DO NOT USE ON LIGHT OR WHITE COLORED SURFACES!! Otherwise, a consumer such as myself would have no clue that the UV thing is a problem. Who would want their project ruined for a lack of simple information !? $140 just gone! Not to mention our time, brushes, torches, drop-cloths and other supplies needed to do the project.

I used this product for refurbishing my counter tops after painting them with another product. It looks great, however it is made to be "pliable" per an email from the manufacturer and in the instructions (which I obviously missed). If you are using this to coat a project that is not a surface to hold things, it will do fine. However, DO NOT use it for a bar top, table top, or counter top. Small items like an empty coffee cup leave indented rings that level out after a while.. but it is not a solid surface. Also, it is not clear in the instructions-- but clean your surface with alcohol prior to applying the product to avoid "fisheyes." And get a cheap instant read thermometer to gauge the temperature (DO NOT only go by the time to mix in the instruction). Product needs to be at 88-90 degrees before pouring.

Use it on art projects and recently used it as a layer on redoing my dining room table. I made the top of the table look like blue granite. Here are the photos of the steps I took. The epoxy resin helped me give it texture like smoothed stone, and it also allowed for the depth of the colors, same as in a stone slab.

We used 3 kits, at a cost of 210.00 dollars, and if it does eventually dry, will have to sand down, and apply another coat. More expensive then i anticipated. Friends have had better luck with other similar products.

It says it is self leveling. We would spread it evenly and come back and there would be areas that were missing. Everything was level and clean when we started. used 2 gallon and 1qt.

We got the bubbles out but it still left craters in places. It is as if it just didn't stick to some spots. The rest of the counter turned out awesome.

Watch out for bubbles. I cannot comment on yellowing or durability. Seems like it would scratch easily. I would recommend it more if it was cheaper.
