Is the grill on the glass removable?
    ByApr 22, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

The grille is part of the lite frame, it can be removed with the lite frame. Screwed in from the inside with interlocking tabs onto the door slab.

I would like to swop out my existing JELD-WEN door and replace it with this one using the existing jam set. What are the hinge placement measurements and the bore measurements for the lockset and dead blot?

      2 Answers |
      Answer This Question

Those are the exact same measurements as my existing Jeld-Wen door. I measured this door at home depot as well and they of course are the same as those in your reply. Thank you.

      By|Nov 12, 2025

Unfortunately they are probably not going to line up. Not all doors are the same in slab width and height as well as hinge location areas. If replacing a like manufacturer with a like manufacturer it may be ok but recommended you replace the entire prehung unit. Our slab measures 35-3/4" x 79", Hinge location(top of slab to top of hinge, 4" prep: 1st= 6.5", 2nd= 37.5, 3rd= 68.5; lockset bore is 33.125" from bottom of door slab.

Does the dark color stain cause a problem with expansion when exposed to direct sunlight?
                ByJul 15, 2025
                2 Answers |
                Answer This Question

Will absorb more heat with a darker color, if you receive direct sun all day and no overhang we would not recommend any full view storm door.

                By|Apr 28, 2026

Yes, it does. I have the door and it is in afternoon sunlight and the grids along the window have expanded and warped. I also have a storm door, but it's mostly glass so the sunlight gets through. I am trying to determine if you can order a replacement

My door came without screw covers…. Is that normal? You can’t see screws in the picture

                    1 Answer |
                    Answer This Question

If you are missing screw covers for the door lite frame or dentil shelf they should have been installed or come with the door. You can reach out to frcontact@frdoors.com to request, please attach photo. If you are asking about screw covers for installation points, we do not supply these.

Can I screw in to the door to hang a hook for a wreath?
                      ByFeb 10, 2025

                      Answer This Question

Not recommended, they do sell over the door hooks. You can screw into the door but any damage would not be a warranty item.

Allie in Nampa deserves a Raise!
Originally bought this door at the Caldwell store. Waited a month for installation and was told May 1st. Called 2 weeks out, still May 1st. Double checked 2 days before installation and was told we are set for May 1st. Waited all day at home for installation. No show. Called and was told part sent to wrong store and it won’t arrive for another 3 weeks. I canceled and went to the Nampa Store. Told Allie the whole story and she was able to get the part needed and door installed in 2 weeks. Highly recommend Allie. She should be training the people at the Caldwell store. Thank you Allie and Jessie for the outstanding installation.

Finish failed after only 3 years
I purchased this door six years ago, and unfortunately, the finish began peeling by year three. For a product at this price point, I expected much better durability. It’s disappointing to see the exterior fail so early in its lifespan. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for a long-term investment.

Thanks for the review and comments, the finish does require maintenance as pointed out in the installation and finishing instructions. Every 2 to 3 years the door requires another topcoat of a polyurethane with uv inhibitors to protect the stain finish. Obviously it sounds like this was not done or maybe ignored until it was to late. Finish durability also depends on sun exposure and overhang. So sorry the finish that requires maintenance did not meet your expectations. Feather River Team FeatherRiverDoor
                            Jamb extension kit.
The door is gorgeous....however if you have a 2 x 6 framed home you have to get the jamb extension kit. The door is made for 2 x 4 installation. Luckily the kit is sold in store.

My wife had been eyeing this door for months at the store preparing for major remodeling at our house. We had-it professionally installed and my wife couldn’t be more pleased with-it. We’ve got lots of positive feedback from our neighbors about the door too. We even decided not to go with a storm door, not wanting to cover-up that beautiful door.

I had this door professionally installed, but it looks AMAZING. I am so happy I chose this door to give my front entrance a much needed facelift! It’s great quality, and appeared to be quite easy to install.

I returned the door due to a defect on the trim beneath the windows. It was warped, separated from the door itself and quite out of level as you can see in the photo- easily a half inch difference from side to side. Very pleased with how Home Depot took care of me on this, but this particular model is of very poor quality

The bottom overall width of the door with the jamb was almost a half inch wider then the top, the ledge is not even on level and the door came damaged.

Needed to replace the door to my lake cabin in northern Wisconsin which is subject to a lot abuse from the weather. My handyman recommended this material and I liked the look. Turned out great and I hope it will stand up to the weather.

                                    Window panes frames cracked
Window panes cracked. Previous owner likely epoxied in attempt to fix. Cracked again. Trying the same again. It would be nice if manufacturer commented on how to fix or whether there is option to replace instead of a generic answer of this condition was mentioned in the warranty. What is that it was setup to fail to begin with? There are 2 of these in the house, one on 1st floor , another in basement both protected by storm doors. Both cracked..Queens, NY

Issue is the storm doors, these need to be vented to relieve the heat build up created. So you can replace the lite frames but need to create air circulation with the storm door. Local store can get you a quote on the lite frames. FeatherRiverDoor

Thanks for the review and comments, not sure if you have a full view storm door in addition to the exposure that caused this issue. The material is a abs material which is not cheap plastic but I guess as a "DoorGuy" you would know. A replacement grill can be ordered at your local store or you can reach out to frcontact@frdoors.com to review if this has not been done already. FeatherRiverDoor
