The weight the pipe can hold can depend upon the length at which it is cut. If you are wanting to put weight across the entire 5-foot length, it can hold about 20 lb., on just that segment. You can double that amount for each foot you go shorter on.

Hello Hometime, I do not recommend hanging heavy plants from it. Smaller hanging baskets and drapes are no problem though. We do not cut the pipe in our lumber depts but it is very easily cut with a hand saw. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris
I returned mine, since it wasn’t as clear as I wanted, and a bit too large. However, it did seem very sturdy. The walls looked thick.
