The weight the pipe can hold can depend upon the length at which it is cut. If you are wanting to put weight across the entire 5-foot length, it can hold about 20 lb., on just that segment. You can double that amount for each foot you go shorter on.
1 pipe. The description, I assume, is saying “schedule 40 PVC pipe”
This item is never stocked in the store. It can only be ordered on line. Sent to the store to be picked up by you for free shipping.
It should but also depends on weight of metal hanging on pipe. The pipe is very stiff just like pic pipe. I used the clear pipe to make underground led fishing/shrimping lights...
Honestly, I used it to make underwater lights for my fishing stuff. It is very strong and thick and clear.
Furniture Grade PVC is a higher quality, UV resistant and non-marked PVC pipe. It has the same dimensional properties as regular PVC, but is resistant to sunlight degradation, it is impact proof and has no marks or manufacturing stampings on the pipe or fittings.
You can find the specifications on the https://formufit.com/ website. This is a special order item. I found that with shipping costs, Formufit was more expensive than local delivery/pickup from HD.
I returned mine, since it wasn’t as clear as I wanted, and a bit too large. However, it did seem very sturdy. The walls looked thick.
I'm looking for 1 1/2" Schd. 40 version of this product at a reasonable cost (cost - that's the hard part). H.D. goes up to only 1 1/4" but that price is reasonable... Arghh! What I found was that Schd. 40 from other expensive suppliers means the same dimensions, inside, outside, and wall. So, it looks to me like it would fit opaque PVC pipe fittings. My guess as to why it wouldn't be common are 1) it's more expensive to make and/or 2) do you think that you would like to be able to see what the inside of your pipes actually look like from an esthetic viewpoint...??? Eh. From a practical point of view, yes. But probably no from a home re-sale point of view.
Absolutely, follow normal precautions (rinsing, disinfecting, etc.) as you would for a new tank before placing fish.
