A:  No bottom to the bin - it is exposed (open) to the ground. 

A:  Yes, there is a drawer you can pull out to get the compost. Be sure to purchase a turner. It is like a pitchfork with a long handle. 

A:  No bottom, it just has a piece of mesh to put under it. That's ok until stirred up the compound, then the mesh got hung up on my stirring tool.

A:  there are ventilation slits in the bin. the only pests to get in would be flies, gnats etc. rodents could not easily get in.

A:  I had mice in mine. They came in through the ground so I put hardware cloth underneath and that solved the problem. 

A:  I have works and other bugs in mine.  Mine is primarily oak leaves, everything organic left over in the kitchen, bread, left over anything with flour, coffee grinds.

A:  I believe pests could get in through the tray near the bottom. I composite vegetables and fruit scraps and have not noticed a lot of pests but my unit is far away from the house. 

A:  Good Morning Semi, This is a wonderful question! Yes, our compost bin design helps protect from pests from coming in. The lid locks securely to help ensure racoons or squirrels are not knocking the lid over and entering. The compost bin door really helps as well to keep them out. A:  The FreeGarden™ RAIN rain barrel is BPA-free and water safe, but non-potable — not intended for consumption.

A:  I use a compost aerator/crank to turn the pile. If you Google it you'll see them.

A:  I use a garden fork & "stir" the contents every couple weeks. Some instruction or advice on how to use should come with the bin. I do move the bin once every 6 months, easy to do & spread the beautiful black compost through out my garden. Compost starter is good to have on hand especially if you're putting in dry material such as leaves.
