Do you have to use a certain type pot and pan for the cooktop to work appropriately?

No! No certain types of pots however Manufacture says NOT to use cast iron skillets on it. Glass pots also are NOT recommended. Not sure why.

Customer Reviews

30 in. 5.3 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 659.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price, i miss my old old range :( I had a 15 year old dinosaur which worked so good! i didnt want to get rid of it, till the other day when it just up and died so i had to replace it and money is tight so i paid as least as possible while getting something that "looks" modern and sleek. for the price i knew i would not get as great a machine as what i had. the stove works fine, heats up quick and looks neat. the surface lends itself for looking dirty unless you are constantly wiping it up and cleaning it as soon as it gets a spot. the oven is a different story, where i used to take 8 mins to bake rolls now it's 8 mins just to preheat and another 14 mins to bake. i dont like that at all. the preheat just takes way too long. if i try to just use it while its preheating it just does nothing! also the bottom drawer is way small for being such a big oven, what's up with that? you get what you pay for and i wanted to save money. i'm sure that the time it takes doesn't cost any more in electricity as my old machine did so it's just time that its taking, not more money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So dissatisfied I have own this stove a little over a month now and I am not happy. Initially when it was delivered and set up, it really light up my kitchen and goes well with my stainless refrigerator but after using it for about two weeks I realized that the cook-top starts to develop little bubbles that seems like an extra layer of plastic was on top, and a lot of scratches showed up on it just after couple days of use. Just to point out this cannot be wipe/scrub off and the rings holds those little black spots grease. I bought a cleaner specifically for glass cook top and still no improvement. Every time my husband goes into the kitchen he fuss with me to return it, which I am going to call the store this week to do. I really regret purchasing this product. I had a cook top before this one and I never had this problem. I will never recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not happy I love this stove, in general. I was completely happy for the first few weeks until I discovered that the color on the ceramic or glass top could be scratched off. I was popping some popcorn with my brand new and approved cookware and when I was finished I saw that the color of the top was now silver ( not black). I used the recommended stove top cleaner thinking it would clean off the marks but it didn't. I'm devastated that my new ceramic top is ruined. It looks like the only way to fix it is to replace the top. Do you know how I can get this fixed? Very unhappy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible burner layout The stove and oven work great. However, the layout of the burners left me scratching my head. Two small burners in the back. One giant burner in the front right which I don't even have a pan big enough to cover. One dual size burner in front left that can be small or giant. The giant burners are useless because the handles get too hot to touch on the pans. The dual burner has settings from 1-6 and high.....nothing between 6 and high. Whatever happened to large and small in the front and large and small in the back. I assumed this was how all 4 burner electric stoves were configured so I never even thought about this aspect. This has turned my new stove in my newly remodled kitchen into a huge bummer.....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was fooled by the "easy to clean" reviews I have had this electric range for about three weeks now and it is the HARDEST thing in the world to keep clean. The top is like black glass and it shows every piece of dust, hair and crumbs. I have to clean it five times a day and then 10 minutes later it has dust on it again. Also, don't spill anything on it because I can't get it off, even with the special cleaner that came with it. The worst part of the cook top is that it has a rubber ring around the outside of it. Crumbs and grime are impossible to get out of the corners without putting a vacuum wand to it and cleaning it with a sponge. Also, the handle on the oven sticks out so far that I can only open my silverware drawer half way now. It is a very pretty stove but if you are OCD like me, trying to keep it looking nice and new is impossible!!!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed We have had this for 4 months. After owning it one month the top got a spot on it as if part of the burner had burned off. Now there are scratches on the top and I clean it with the ceramic top cleaner as instructed. I had a ceramic top before on my previous oven and never had a scratch after 12 years. It was a GE. This ceramic top is not very durable. If you accidently move a pan slightly on it, it will scratch. Very hard to keep clean and as someone else stated it has a rubber ring around the top that collects all the dust. The only way I have found to clean that is to use a wet Q-tip to wipe the dirt out of it. As stated by so many on here, you would have to clean the top every hour to keep the dust off. It's just a poor design. Also bought the Frig from Frigidaire and it scratches just by looking at it. I will never do stainless steel again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Stylish and Efficient This range came with the new home I just purchased. It took awhile to get used to the energy saving feature of the baking mode, and stove top cooking pads, and to tap into the correct temperature. It seems to require a higher temperature than normal, for example for four (4) mostly thawed chicken thighs I set the oven temperature at 350 degrees, but it was taking forever (over 45 minutes), so I had to increase the temperature to 400 degrees. After that, it took another 15 minutes and then they were done. My expectation was that the chicken would be cooked in 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Overall, I really like the stylish look of this appliance, and the automatic baking shut-off feature. That's pretty cool. The burners get hot immediately. That's another nice feature. (It takes time to get used to the 'fade in' 'fade out' feature of the burners. I never saw that before.) And, of course, I LOVE the smooth cook top, vs. electric elements or gas grates.
