Q:Does the new GE profile gas cooktop has heavy duty knobs? My GE profile cooktop that I got 9 years ago does NOT, they melt and also brake very easy. I am shopping for new cooktop don’t want to spend the extra $ for a GE profile if its not good quality

Poor Quality
About a week after installation of the cook top, I found three of the five knobs starting to melt. I being an engineer and material science student, immediately found that poor quality plastic had been used in the knobs. This poor quality standard indeed is not expected from a company like GE. Furthermore, the silver color of knobs was given to show if they were stainless steel/steel knobs. I would not recommend GE cooktop to people to use in their homes.

Terrible design
The range works perfectly, but the design stupid! To make the control knobs in the greats, the cover, the burners the same height is idiotic because inevitably you're gonna slide a pan out and melt the simulated stainless steel control knobs just as I have. You can see the pictures below. Also, you give an area to submit photos, but it will not except photos.

Nice stovetop!

Fairly price and nice features
Above average product with a few design floors. The cooktop surface is already scratched. The cook grills rest in top of little foam pads which are not positioned correctly. The same grills are already be scratched by taking pots on and off.
On the positive side, knobs are positioned nicely to provide the ability to be able to fit 5 pots on the stove at the same time. Cleans easily.
