Q:Can i use this in a wall without a junction box
by|Jun 7, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  They sell a different kit for that but its not UL listed, its not recommended to leave a wire with that kit in wall even though its made for that, just because if you don't do it right and you forgot the location of your splice then it will cost a lot of drywall and paint to fix wall back up. Better to just set a box with cover plate closer to floor so its less visible or re-pull a wire. Ill send you link of that other kit just practice on one and make sure you do it right. Strip wire like it tells you to and i use channel locks to snap it in ( its not snapped in if you use it with hands) you have to use channel locks and listen for snap sound

Q:Can these splices be buried underground with no no junction box.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi and thanks for the question, these are ETL rated for underground splice applications in wet or damp areas. As long as they are properly used and sealed they should work just fine for this applicaiton.

Not a good choice for 10 or 8 gauge
To get larger wires (awg 8 or 10) into the splice you have to back out the screws almost all the way. They are tiny screws which then only engagef 2 or 3 threads. The threads strip easily. I am not confident that the splice will hold up. Mark it with a stake before you bury it in case you have to dig it up.

These are extremely good quality and design. When you first see the heat shrink tubing, you’ll be like, this is way too big, but trust me, hit it with the heat gun and it shrinks perfectly. Used these for a large Low Voltage LED Light project. Very pleased. Pricey, but you get what you pay for here.

Excellent product to splice an underground cut line. Solid/ thick plastic housing for the brass connectors. Careful with the screws to not lose them/ screw them out too far. Shrink tubing is very thick but condensed nicely for a tight seal using a strong heat gun.
