Product Overview

Easily glue up to any painted solid surface ceiling. Dimensions thermoformed panels replicate the look of tin tiles. Our 2 ft. x 4 ft. faux tin tiles are available in a fused bronze styrene which you can install as-is in fused bronze or inexpensively paint any color to match your decor. This allows you to achieve the same look as metal panels for a fraction of the cost. Time is also saved with the ease of installation because they are light weight and easy to work with, simply glue-up your ceiling and cut effortlessly with a scissors. Our panels are ready to install right out of the box, unlike tin ceiling tiles which need to be painted to prevent rusting, making these a perfect choice for your next DIY project. Why use more of your valuable time and money when you can save and it's impossible to tell the difference after installation with six designs and seven available colors, you're sure to find something you like. In addition to matte white; aged copper, black, brass, bronze, nickel and copper are also available. Plus, you have the ability to paint our panels, giving you an individual touch that no one can recreate. We've noticed the specialty finishes such as hammered or metallic spray paints turn out stunning. You're only limited by your imagination. This design has a 6 in. repeat pattern and looks good in small or large areas.
  • Made of durable 0.020 in. thick styrene; these tiles will not rust, stain, corrode and are not affected by humidity
  • All panels overlap eliminating seams and the need to buy additional materials
  • 8 sq. ft. coverage area per tile
  • Crisp and clean lightweight detailed panels offer the look of real tin tiles
  • Solid colored styrene is easy to install, gluing over any flat surface

How can I install these without ruining the ceiling? I live in a rental. We can paint and use nails.

I glued mine but that does not sound like it will work. They are light weight -- you may try some poster sticker tape.

Does the metallic nickel look like a tin ceiling?

Answer

Hello , They wouldn't be shiny like a metal tin ceiling - if you want this look we would recommend buying white and painting them with Rustoleum Chrome or similar to get the shiny look. (Most metal ceiling tiles if unfinished need to be painted on both sides to prevent rusting if you don't purchase one that has already been clear coated.)

These really are not made for tacking up, they are too flexible and would also crack when putting a nail through them. I simply glued them up to the drywall with something like liquid nails. Doing that they looked great.

Do you sell a finishing edge for this product?

Hello, We don't have any specific finishing edges to be used. Typically a vinyl (plastic) j-trim, or other trim molding is used. A sample piece can be color matched at the store to paint the trim to match.

Can I put this over popcorn ceilings?

Asked by Crls March 19, 2020

Answers

I would not put this over popcorn because it is hard enough to get it correct without the added difficulty of a rough surface. I spackled over my ceiling's very rough patches for a smooth surface before applying these tiles and it worked well. You have enough to worry about getting the angles right (no room or ceiling it perfectly plumb) so having to also deal with popcorn ridges and bumps will not be good. Take the time to do it right and prepare a smooth surface( if you can't get the popcorn off, think about applying masonite board over it first then the tiles.)

Do you have to overlap the panels when you install them?

Asked by Linda February 16, 2020

Answers

Yes,there is an overlap, but makes it very easy after the very important first panel is installed at the point farthest away from your most visual spot so you don't notice the overlaps, another tip is to trim the corners of the panels being overlap where 4 come together. Lay them out on the floor and you will see what l mean by build up in the corners

easy to install - two people are best to help align overlaps. We also found Modern Masters satin copper penny metallic paint matched perfectly - we had to leave some soffit open to allow air flow in the enclosed porch and painted the soffit to match the tiles. Super look!

We made the decision to not use the transition strips and just overlap the panels. Bad decision for a room with a 7 1/2 foot ceiling. The over lapped seams were very noticeable. In order to remedied that situation, we purchases 1 x 1/4 pre-finished fir strips and used them to create a 4 ft. by 4 ft. box look. If I did this again, I would not have overlapped them unless the install was in a 12+ foot ceiling area.

Wanted to love this ceiling tile but it wasn't happening. I knew it was plastic when I purchased it, but the reviews that suggested you can't tell and it looks like real metal kind of made me hopeful. Hopes dashed, it absolutely looks like cheap plastic. Unfortunately, this was a return for me.
