From the product description <https://www.homedepot.com/p/Grip-Rite-1-5-8-in-x-8-in-Stainless-Steel-Deck-Screw-MAXS62689/203563789>: "Package Quantity 146"

WRONG SPEC: The screw size, according to the box, is No.8 x 1-5/8 inch. It is NOT 8 inches long....

I see the description still states the screw is 8 inches long despite the manufacturer stating they will correct description(copy).

This item is mis-identified in so many ways! First, it is a #8 screw size x 1-5/8" long (not #10 as it says in the specs and not 8" long as it says in the description); second it is a T-20 Torq (star) drive (not square, as it says in the specs). Third, this is a 1 lb. box, which has approximately 146 screws.

Excellent Screws
After over a year, the screws I used in my fence still look like new. Now I need to do the final portion of my fence... The specs are all sorts of screwed up on all sides. It doesn't matter if you are in store and can see the product. But if you're trying to get the correct screw during a global pandemic and aren't allowed to go to the store, accurate online specs matter. The GripRite site says this is an 8d (8 penny - a nail metric) screw with a #2 square drive. Home Depot says this is a #2 size screw (which would be very thin). See the picture of the actual packaging for correct specs and a picture of the actual screw. From the package: Model: MAXS62690 1-5/8" x 8 #305 Stainless Steel T-20 Star Drive (Torx) Type 17 point (this refers to the drilly bit on the pointy side of the screw) I measured the screw with digital calipers, and here are the results: Shank size (above the threads): .127" Shank size (within the threads): .118" Head size: .340" Length: 1.604" These measurements are consistent with a #8 screw.

High quality SS screw. Some i have purchased in the past had better drilling qualities though. Tooling needs to be reworked. Used on T1-11 and composite fence boards. Expensive but fitting for my applications.

The screw head could be a little deeper, so the bit doesn't slip as easy. I used all but 5 and had virtually no waste. I stripped out 6 screws total...overall they were great.

horrible
bought two large buckets of these in 3'' and 2.5''. They made out of soft material which is NOT 304 stainless. Many heads break off when you screw them into the wood. They bend and strip very easily. The worst and most expensive screw I ever bought. Feel cheated. Will never buy again and will try to return the pails.
