About This Product

Grip-Rite drywall screws are used when installing gypsum board to light-gauge steel studs. They have a sharp point to pierce through drywall, and a fine thread design to help grab into light-gauge steel studs. Once the screw has been driven, the bugle head allows for quick and easy countersinking.

  • Made of steel construction
  • Phosphate coated to make driving easier
  • Phosphate coating is a good base for paints and other finishes
  • Made to conform to ASTM C1002

Q:what size of anchor for I need for this screw?
by|Jan 27, 2020
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  An 8 gauge screw is about 4.2mm in diameter. You’ll want an anchor slightly larger than that but anchors are typically purchased by holding capacity so the size anchor needed for the project largely depends on what is being held

Q:What happens if they are used in/on treated lumber?

Answer This Question

A:  It works very smoothly. It goes along with my drill bit.

A:  The chemicals in treated lumber can cause/accelerate corrosion on fasteners not rated for treated lumber. I have seen this often in fencing. You could contact the manufacturer also @ 1-800-676-7777. The box clearly states: 1. Should not be used in treated lumber. 2. Should not be used where surface rust is unacceptable.

I used these Philips Bugle-Head Fine Thread Drywall Screws for an addition I made to my master bedroom closet to turn it into a walk-in closet. I purchased Home Depot 2x4x8s, framed the wall system, ran new electrical wall switch and outlets, hung the drywall with these screws and will install my Home-Depot pre-hung six panel closet door as soon as I’m finished spackling and painting the walls. Everything made easy because Home Depot has everything you need to complete the job.
