In 1957, when our doors with our patented TruClose cam activated hinges and heavy duty hardware first hit the market it quickly became the top choice for Manhattan developers and architects alike. From Turner Construction when they built the Hofstra Dormitories to HRH Construction when they built the Trump Towers, developers continue to purchase our Impact Plus bi-fold and sliding doors.

My opening is 72x95 inches, is it possible to cut down the door to fit?

Asked by question January 11, 2021

Answer

Question, Although we dont recommend it, you can cut the height and would be cheaper option than a custom door. Just make sure whomever does it is skilled and has the right tools. You will need to remove, cut, recreate the hardware preps with a drill bit, and replace the hardware on the top edges. Thank you

Answer

Demi, Im not sure what you are looking at but when I change it to the 90 x 80 size i can see bullet #3 claerly states he following-->Bi-fold is for a 90 in. W finished opening and is made of four 22-1/4 in. panels. Yes they are all on the same track generally speaking accross the opening but please be aware anything over 72" will be a 2 piece track due to shipping limitations.

Is the listing for 2 doors (4 panels) that make up 48" or for 1 door (2 panels) that make up 48"

Asked by Brandon January 11, 2021

Answer

Brandon, This is designed to fill your 48" opening with 2 hinged pairs if bifolds that open to each side and meet in the middle. These Bi-folds are for a 48 in. wide finished opening and is made of four 11-3/4 in. panels. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Can these doors be cut down to fit a lower ceiling

Asked by Shell November 22, 2020

Answer

Shell, You can cut the height we dont recommend it since it voids your warranty but it would be cheaper option than a custom door. Just make sure whomever does it is skilled and has the right tools. You will need to remove the hardware on the top edges and bottom of the panels. make your cut and duplicate the preps with a drill bit and replace the hardware. You will also need to cut down the track any good hacksaw or a metal blade on a power saw will do the job. Thank you

Answer

Craig, Our hardware is proprietary and will not work wih the Johnson series you will find most others will not also. This is our least expensive door. The door are NOT pre drilled our handle is actually a wraparound that mounts to the back side. White and Primed are the same, not prepped. Also you will have a little extra gap at each side edge due to the slightly larger opening and many folks either leave it or cover it up with a simple quarter-round or square molding running from top to bottom. The benefit of the 48 over the 2-24's is that you will get a one piece track versus 2. The 2 will leave a small seam at the middle top.Thank you.

My finished opening is 831/2 W - 96 H . Can i use the closet door size 84 W x 96H.

Answer

William, Our door are adjustable but thats out of the range. It sounds like you have a custom size and this unit will not fit in your opening out of the box. Please reach out to us at Sales@Paniflex.com if you are interested in seeing if we can get you the custom size. Thank you. Carlos

I damaged the finish on the white laminate version. can it be painted with latex paint?

Asked by Rob August 30, 2020
1
Answer

Rob Yes it can, we just suggest you rough up the surface with some sandpaper and then use a good quality primer and paint combo and roll it on with a foam roller. If its just a touch up you should be able to dab on some white semi-gloss paint in the area if you have gotten down to the MDF core. I hope this helps.

Answer

Jon, Many folks close this gap with a quarter-round moulding down each side of the jamb facing the front edge of the door. Is been done for many years to solve this problem and is a much less expensive option than a custom-sized door. Please feel to reach out to me at Sales@Paniflex.com if you have more questions on this method. Thank you, Carlos

Very disappointed. PLEASE READ!!
1. The doors are not 80 inches tall they are 78.5 inches tall. 2. The floor mount installation requires a wood block that looks awful with my new laminate flooring! 3. The hardware to open is very awkward looking. Not at all what was in the picture. Description and picture does not match what I received.

Response from Brand Product ExpertFeb 5, 2021
Dear Veol, We are sorry you are disappointed. Our door panels are actually 76-3/4" tall. Our instructions also clearly state that the wood saddle we provide is optional and you didnt really need to compromise your laminate floor it could have been avoided with a proper installation. I am not sure why the hardware is not operating smoothly but we would be happy to look into to make sure everything is installed properly. Can you please reach out to us at sales@panilfex.com and our warranty department will be happy to see if there is anything we can to do improve your experience and overall satisfaction. Thank you. Carlos

I bought these doors to use as a sound barrier to my hallway to block the sound when I play movies loud on my Dolby Atmos home theater system. They worked well for that and I can watch movies without disturbing my roommate. They look nice also.

This flush bi-fold door met expectations and was the best available solution for the laundry room in our church apartment. It is well-made and well-packaged. It arrived without any damage. It was a bit tricky to install and we had to re-size the height of the opening so it would fit. It has been in place now for about 6 months. We substituted knobs like our kitchen cabinet knobs to give it a nicer appearance.

These custom order doors were overall great. Checked measurements. The only downfall is not being able to connect directly with the company fulfilling the order. These were selected due to the material and being a divide between two rooms (with the option to open them up for one larger room). The brackets were setup for closet doors vs room divider doors. To change this one option would have made a huge difference.

one of the original 4 mirrors cracked while our professional installer was installing the bi-fold doors. the crack appeared to originate from a chip on the edge. we sent pictures to the supplier Custom Door & Mirrors who refused to apply their warranty stating without physical inspection on their part that our installer broke the mirror. They shipped a replacement at my expense of $120.
