Q:How many can run on a 3/4 line
    by|Oct 8, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  To confirm the amount of water available coming from the ¾” supply line a flow test should be done. Using any container with a known volume (like a 5-gallon bucket) see how many times the container fills in 1-minute. This will tell you about the available gallons per minute (GPM). K2 Pro comes with a 2.5 GPM nozzle pre-installed, if for instance there is 6 GPM available you could run two K2 Pro. If there is 12 GPM available four K2 Pro could be operated at the same time spaced out at 30 feet apart.

Q:Is this interchangeable with rainbird 3500/32sa housing? What I am asking is, can I swap just the rooter with existing rainbird sprinkler head.
        by|May 11, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  You cannot take the "guts" out of the K-Rain K1 and drop it in the can of the RainBird 3500/32SA. The way they are interchangeable, is that both models have a 1/2" female thread inlet.

I really like using the K-Rain rotor heads because they are not only east to install, the information needed to make adjustments is right on the product itself. It also came with a key for the adjustments.

I just put 2 of these in to cover the back yard. The only reason I rated these good and not excellent, is that they are a pain to get adjusted. Once I got them where I wanted them, they are great. Word of warning- don't back out the flow control screw too far, it will spit the screw and the nozzle across the yard. Also make sure the the top is sealed correctly (mine loosened while I was fiddling with the adjustments) or you loose most of the pressure.

Big, Stout sprinklers that are built to last. These have several great features that, I think, separates them from the competition. First, in one sprinkler head, you can adjust the range of spray (I've always found it annoying when I've got only 90 degree sprinklers but need 180 degree ones). You can also adjust the distance of spray which is nice because you don't have to get different sprinklers that have different spray ranges. Again, I'd rather have a product on hand that can do everything than have a bunch of other products that can only do some things. I've been impressed with these sprinklers and look forward to adding more

Rock Star Sprinkler by KRain. This is the most versatile sprinkler I have ever used. It is build sturdy and offers a wide variety and easy to use settings to accommodate most applications. It is probably best for a larger yard. Slightly overkill for a small yard. A key is provided which can be used to adjust the distance, spray pattern, replace nozzles, set degrees of pattern, and lift featured. The sprinkler allows you to set the spray distance or turn the spray off completely. This feature is nice because it allows you to change out the nozzle without having to manually hold up the pop up. Such a nice feature. The standard screw spray adjustment allows the diffraction of water which provides watering in the distance as well as directly in front of the sprinkler. The adjustments are printed clearly on the top and the adjustments work with ease. I highly recommend this sprinkler. Can't say enough about this item. Be aware you will have to pay a bit to play with this remarkable product.

These sprinklers have a 1/2" inlet with a 4" popup. The pro versions have a 3/4" inlet, keep this in mind if you are replacing your existing sprinklers. You'll want to use the correct size whether it's 1/2" or 3/4" pipe connections. These sprinklers are fairly easy to adjust, but they have very strong springs, so you must use the included tool in order to lift the sprinkler head riser (rotor) out of the body of the sprinkler. One thing I really like about this sprinkler is that you can adjust the starting point of the rotation WITHOUT rotating the sprinkler connection to the water pipe! This is a huge improvement from old designs that required you to rotate the entire body of the sprinkler in order to get a starting point, which often resulted in making the pipe connection either too loose or too tight. Once you get the left starting position set (the hardest part in my opinion because you have to do it with the riser pulled out and then rotate the internal shaft at the same time), the rest is easier. Just add or subtract the rotation by adjusting the +/- arrows. Another helpful thing is the grey arrow in the center that always points to where you have made your overall rotation adjustment (40-360 degrees). The water will always come out from where the tiny silver screw is (which also has an indicator arrow head on it), so it's very easy to tell where your water will be sprayed across your lawn, even without running any water through the sprinkler! This is really what makes adjusting these so much easier than before. The only real difficulty is again that the spring is so strong, it's very hard to set that left starting position, but it's also good that the riser will definitely be pulled back down when the water shuts off, so you don't have to worry about the lawn mower breaking it. The final adjustment is your spray distance that is very easy to adjust by turning the tiny silver screw to either block the spray or let it go full. The coverage is average, the pro version has better overall coverage, especially very close to the spray head to avoid dead spots. I would still recommend these, especially if you have 1/2" pipe connections already and/or a smaller lawn, but if you have a very large lawn then pro is the way to go.

I have always dreaded replacing sprinkler head until I got the 5 IN. K2 Pro gear drive sprinkler. First of, it came with the complete installation kits. I am so happy I found this sprinkler head when I did. I had a few sprinkler heads that were damaged by mowing machine that I had wanted to replace. But feared it would be difficult. After I installed the first One and realized how easy it was, I decided to replace the remaining 3 heads. And it took me less than 10 minutes to complete it all. Very happy with the purchase and highly recommend it without any reservation.

This review is for K2 PRO Gear Drive Sprinkler Head, item # 90008104. This model K2 PRO comes with a variety (9) of different nozzle sizes to change spray patterns and water usage. This model measures 7 1/2" long, 2 1/4 " in diameter. The pop up tube is 5" in length. The case takes 1 " pipe and the case is constructed of a black PVC material as well as the above ground cap. I found the diagrammed instructions were easy to follow, these nozzles are easy to install and were easy to adjust to my specific needs for watering my side lawn and plants around it. Coverage was excellent. These cases are larger than the sprinkler cases I already had in the ground so I had to remove the smaller sprinkler and enlarge the hole in the ground. I plugged the below ground outlet with a screw in plug attached to a 1 foot piece of pipe before I started to dig to keep the dirt out of line but it was an easy retrofit. Loved how easy it was to adjust the distance they sprayed and how much water I wanted to use. I left the installed 2.5 gpm heads in place. Just remember to bag and mark the nozzle's instructions, adjustment key and other sized heads for possible future use and adjustments as your needs change. This is a well made sprinkler head and I expect it to give me many years of use.

We have 8 zones with 4-6 sprinklers on each zone so we do go through sprinkler heads. When I found these I like what I saw, liked the features and especially the ease to adjust the spray as well as adjust the area/angle covered. 90 to 360 degrees works for every corner of my yard so I bought a box of 6 to try them out. I'm absolutely delighted with the performance, ease of installation and simplicity and effectiveness of the control options. I'm happy and my lawn is even happier!!!

I live in Florida, so my sprinkler heads get a good workout, and are occasionally a casualty of errant lawn mower blades. For these reasons, when it comes to sprinkler heads I look for ease of installation, value-pricing and reasonable durability. Here’s my assessment of this product: 1. Installation is straight forward – it replaces most common heads simply by screwing the body onto the valve fitting. I found the instructions for radius/distance settings were not clear, because the keyhole provided for purposes of lifting the nozzle from the body, suggests it might have a dual-purpose of also setting the radius (which it does not because adjustments can also be made without lifting the nozzle). Instructions for this could be better. The adjustment locations are well-illustrated on the top of the head, although I imagine that exposure to the elements could diminish the visibility of the settings over time. 2. Price is about half that of products with similar operating characteristics (adjustable radius/distance, rotating head). 3. Product label states a 2-year warranty. K-Rain.com site states their other gear driven rotors, sprays and valves come with a 5-year warranty, suggesting this product is made to lesser quality standards and value-priced accordingly. It does have a hard-rubber armor type head surrounding the nozzle as do more expensive heads. Judging by its exterior appearance, this product looks to be durable and the initial performance was very good – nozzle rotation was smooth and there was no leaking detected. Bottom line: for the money, I judge this to be a good replacement head, especially if your sprinkler heads are replaced often due to damage from mowing equipment. The warranty period suggests that it's life expectancy may be limited. This product does the job and I would recommend it.
