Does this door come in 28 x 80? If not, can I cut down a 30 x 80 to fit?

Asked by Suzi August 1, 2020

Answer

I assume you can cut the door down to 28" but would have to cut one inch from each side to keep the door symmetrical. Just note that the door is not made with solid pieces of wood. The wood is made up of pieces of wood glued together. As long as the outer edge pieces are over an inch wide you should be fine to cut the door an inch on each side.

How did you paint the doors, spray, roller or brush? Did they have to be sanded first?

Asked by KMH July 1, 2020

Answer

I used a graco spray gun and lightly cleaned the doors before painting. I also did sand the side of the doors since we had to use a planer to make sure the doors were a perfect fit in our existing door jam. Highly recommend using a spray gun if you have one. Come out clean and smooth.

Answer

Yes; but you have a 1/2" discrepancy in the width that is going to show up unless you correct for it by trimming out the sides so they are plumb and create an equal width. You could make the trim that sits up against the wall overlap the opening space, which will help cover the error. Any track would work as long as its rated for the weight of the doors. These are a lot heavier than a hollow core door.

Can you trim the top or bottom how much.

Asked by Moe March 27, 2020

Answer

Yes. This is solid wood and will often, have to be trimmed down to fit a doorway.

They are primed white - I would suggest using a spray gun to paint the color you desire.

You could try, but you can't make a square angle corner with a router.

This was a great buy. We used it as our basement door that’s accessed through the kitchen and I love it because the shaker style matches my kitchen cabinets. It came coated with a white primer and looked great once it was painted. It is well made, and solid. It had to be shaved down a bit to fit the doorway and it shaved and sanded clean. Very happy with this purchase. Looks really nice once it’s painted.

Sent me 3 Panels door.
I ordered this door because this is the closest match with other doors in my house. Waited weeks for delivery in store. Picked up and carry it to the 2nd level only to find that it is a 3 Panels door. Taped it back, and returning soon. What a waste of time.

These doors were exactly what we were looking for. Two panel look was perfect for a clean yet not "too busy" for our modern farmhouse look. The doors come in standard sizes - we ordered 30" x 80" & 24" x 80". We had to cut down the doors with a planer slightly to make sure they were a perfect fit to our existing door jams. Only suggestion is to buy the right tools for this task and it will make it a smooth process. I painted the doors Alabaster and put black hardware (knobs & hinges) and the doors look phenomenal.

Great Door
I bought the KB 2 panel shaker solid core pine slab door. DIY project to replace forst of many door upgrades. Door arrived NO Damage! Primer that was on the door out of the box was on smooth. I had to plane/sand one edge as the door was about 1/8th of an inch too wide for my opening. Very happy with wood, its solid. I used 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Advance Satin in Super White. Matte black hardware. Looks amazing. Ill be ordering more of these doors in the future

The style of the door is great. However it is not solid pine as describe. The front fascia is cardboard and my order came with damages.

incorrect description.
Purchased 9 of these and am very happy with quality. HOWEVER, be aware that under description it says it has a "vertical grain pattern". It does not. The problem in my case is that I also ordered Feather River pantry door, and that door had the option of ordering (smooth/primed or natural pine grain finish). Expecting the Kimberly Bay to have "grain pattern", I ordered natural grain and now I have doors that don't match. Otherwise they are good doors.

We purchased 11 doors (24" and 30") and are happy with the doors. They do require a bit of sanding (some doors required more than others). We had to cut down most of the doors in width and height and we did not have a problem with the doors chipping as others stated. They do have some sort of veneer (maybe a type of masonite board) over wood but for the price that is what we expected. All the doors were packed well and we did not have any damage to the doors in shipping. Overall for the price they are worth purchasing.
