Q:We had a new septic system installed 3 1/2 weeks ago. The contrator used Double Eagle seed, which has come in nicely, though a somewhat surprising number of weeds are appearing. It's time to mow, and we're thinking to then weed and feed. Recommendation?

Q:Heard fungus is an issue for this grass. How best to treat that and what are early symptons to look out for?

A:Â Don't water at night

A:Â Good morning, most turf grasses have some fungus problems depending on the season and condition of the turf. Over-fertilization and too much water are the main culprits in promoting fungus. Look for unusual brown patchiness especially in the late spring or early summer. Depending on the fungus the treatment can vary so cannot recommend treatment without knowing the pathogen. Q:Just seeded a new lawn. It's been 3 weeks and good establishment. What's recommended watering schedule from here onwards? And how many weeks after seeding is the first mow?
by|Sep 23, 2021

Answer This Question
A:Â Good morning, You'll want to start cutting back on watering to every 4-5 days for the next couple weeks and then every 7 to 10 for next couple of weeks. After that time, water as necessary. You can start mowing as soon as it gets tall enough to remove about 1/4 of the leaf blade. You may want to raise your mower blade just a little so your not cutting to close. Thank you for contacting the Lesco Product Support team.

spread 5 bags of seed (125lbs) and it's not growing
5 (25 lb) bags were spread over a high grade fresh loam and barely any of the seed is even growing. Ive watered the seed every day to make sure it doesn't dry and it hasn't so I do not know what is wrong with the seed. I grabbed the last 5 bags available in my area so maybe the bags were old?

Very impressed!
I was very impressed with this product. I put some down in a spot that was bare. I added some starter fert, applied some hay, watered it in right away. Then never touched it again. It did rain for a few days and that helped. But it's full, thick and green!

This seed when coupled with the LESCO fertilizer certainly lived up to its hype. I saw germination by day 4, really. And this was in early August when I was fortunate enough to dethatch the lawn and apply the seed during 2 days of straight rain followed by moderate, yet slightly humid temps. As advertised on the product, I didn’t see any weeds. Even though this review is about the seed, one word of caution with the fertilizer is use moderation when applying it, particularly on existing lawn areas where you are adding new seed as you can cause fertilizer burn (unlike many starter fertilizers). I’m no expert at seeding lawns but I did do some research and made sure that I used quality loam that was well screened of excess rocks for areas where I needed to add soil, and used a quality top dressing. Before and after pictures are included from day 1 to week 3
