Don't waste your money!
I've purchased at least 4 of these contraptions. Not a single one has lasted an entire summer. Even when it "works" I have to fidget around with it nonstop just to keep it from freezing up and stop moving. I never know which fidget worked, because it's unpredictable.
After finally losing my patience the other day I kept it attached to the hose and I beat it against the ground until it broke into pieces. Oddly, it works just as well this way as I it did before! And, I feel much better. Never buying another again!

Cheap plastic breaks after about one year of use.
This sprinkler works great for the first year, then UV destroys the plastic so the adjustment tabs break. I have several of these sun damaged unusable sprinklers at home. I wish Melnor made their sprinklers from UV resistant plastic and I wish they offered a quality sprinkler.

Bad materials
The Melnor line of adjustable lawn sprinklers have a great design. Unfortunately, the materials they use are sub standard. I've owned three of them, and within 2 years, the plastic tabs used to adjust the spray pattern/width break off. Always !
They're made of cheap plastic. So, if you want a very good design and don't mind shelling out $20-$30 bucks every other year, then it's ok. Personally, I get upset with designed obsolescence and throw-away items.

Plastic Tabs are weak link
Yellow tabs break easily, it takes a lot of force to move these plastic tabs.I would pay $30 if they had metal tabs. It's not big investment for company don't know why then never tested their product. I just broke second one after a year. It amazing that product works so well but it has this simple flaw that can be easily fixed.
FYI i am Mechanical Engineer that designs parts and works closely with manufacturing and i can tell you that these tabs are not that expensive to manufacture.

Cheap but fragile
The adjustment tabs are thin plastic and broke off almost immediately. Now I need pliers to adjust the water angle.
In addition, the pattern is not very uniform, so on a windless day some areas are drenched while others are dry. If the wind is blowing it'll tend to average out, but its still shoddy design. The same company makes better sprinklers, so keep looking.

Plastic pattern adjustment tabs broke after one season!
Owned for one season, stored in a garage cabinet between uses. Went to adjust the spray pattern and the yellow plastic adjustment tabs broke clean right off, every single one, rendering the sprinkler virtually useless. Got maybe 3 uses out of it. Things just aren’t made the way the used to anymore.

Disappointed
The sprinkler started off great and was working well. Late August I noticed the spray patterns started to cross. I cleaned them with the tool that came with the sprinkler. They still cross over causing un even coverage. Also the tabs to stop the sprinkler don’t always work and it will go full distance back and forth.
