No. I have used mine extensively with no grease coming out anywhere. If it is a new purchase return it to Home Depot. If it is older contact Milwaukee. Both are great at backing their equipment.

What is the smallest bit you can use?

Asked by Tiffany June 28, 2020

Answer

This hammer drill uses SDS Plus bits. The smallest one I have seen is 1/4". But I think this is way too much drill for a 1/4" bit.

The inch designation is the max diameter that the drill is designed to handle...even though it will take a larger bit it is not designed to handle that load.

I don't think the drill will have any problem. Getting the right drill bit is going to be the trick.

The drill is a good piece of equipment. Very smooth and quick work. I use mine for primarily drilling holes/setting anchors, not flat blade demo. In instances of busting mortar lines to re-point, it did very well, but that was small scale concrete removal, not sure how large a wall you are tackling.

Im a cable technician, is this drill good enough to go through concrete and foundation walls with a 18 inch BOSCH bit?

Definitely, yes. That is what it's meant for. Choose a decent bit also.

I am impressed
I did not want to spend the extra cash on a SDS Max when I was only going to drill only one or two holes. I knew it was not recommended to use a SDS plus for a poured 4-6 inch concrete slab. I bought a cheap concrete 4 inch wide hole saw bit. The drill did not complain at all with a dry drilling. It was fun and only took 30 minutes. For less than $200 this is my new go to drill. Not too large or loud. All the functions work fine. Would recommend!

works great
Works great. Heavy duty. Good grips and easy bit replacement. Im using this to remove glued down hard wood flooring to concrete. For 3 days now this roto hammer has been running non stop for about 3-4 hours a day. Selector switch starting to stick a little bit, probably from all the dust so time will tell if that becomes a problem. As for performance and durabilty with the motor ive gotten it pretty hot for long periods of time and it keeps on kicking or hammering.

This drill rotary hammer performed flawlessly! I honestly abused it nearly continuously for ten hours a day three days in a row. I drilled about 30 holes ⅝" in 5" concrete with one bit. Chipped out about 4'² of 5" concrete, really should have used a jackhammer, but you've gotta use what you've got on hand sometimes.

Best Roto Hammer we've ever owned!
We've had this for a year now. We just recently started a commercial job where we had to drill 120 6" holes in the concrete slab and footings. It did them all no prob and is still going strong.
