Answer This Question

A:  Hi DanG, yes, there is a mode specifically for rotary hammering. For rotary hammering, you can turn the mode selector so the arrow points to the hammer and twist drill symbol! - Milwaukee Tool Social Team

          Needs Improvement
Owned 5.0 HO for 5 months and one the tabs already broke. Broke from normal installing and removing of the battery. This new gray plastic is weaker. My old 6.0 batteries are still good. Sent in for warranty and Milwaukee denied. Not buying these HO anymore.

            High Output M12 battery
It is nice to have this Milwaukee XC5.0 high output M12 series battery. It fits a variety of Milwaukee M12 series tools and battery chargers that I have. I weighed it on my scale and it weighs in at 15 ounces. It weighs slightly more than my Milwaukee XC4.0 M12 series battery. The XC5.0 is almost the same size and shape as the XC4.0 battery. The XC5.0 has a nice hard rubber base. Overall, this is a good battery to have.

            Long Lasting Power
Last month I got the smaller High Output CP2.5 Amp Hour M12 REDLITHIUM just in time for Hurricane Ian. On one single charge I was able to put up and take down all of my storm shutters...and my next door neighbor's as well. I had to get this High Output XC5.0 Amp Hour version after that experience. These are incredibly long lasting, lightweight lithium ion batteries. This will not only power my M12 Hammer Drill that I used before & after the hurricane, but more power hungry M12 tools like my Shop Blower and my Portable Wet/Dry Vac. We lost power just short of four days. I charged up everything before the hurricane hit, thinking that I would go through all of my batteries. That M12 High Output CP2.5 still had 2 out of 4 bars when I got power back. I've been using my M18 High Output XC8.0 to power my Hatchet Pruning Saw using up only one bar per shift of hurricane clean-up work on weekends. Milwaukee's M12 and M18 High Output batteries combined with the latest generation of CPU controlled, brushless motors are game changers. Yes!!! Highly Recommended.

Longer runtime, keeps my hoodie hot throughout my work shift.
This is a Milwaukee M12 RedLithium High Output XC5.0. The package states it has 25% more power and runs cooler then a standard M12 battery. I have a couple Milwaukee heated sweatshirts that I love and use every single day. The sweatshirts came in a kit with a RedLithium CP2.0 12v, 2ah battery. I wanted a bigger battery that would last my whole work shift instead of just switching out my 2x 2ah batteries when one dies. I was debating weather or not I should order it because I didn't want anything too bulky. I decided to just give it a shot and I'm glad I did. It's alot more compact then I thought it was going to be. I am so used to the size of the 18v batteries. My sweatshirt has a nice big zippered storage pocket to hold the battery. This 5ah battery was just what I was looking for. I get 60wh instead of just 24wh from a 2ah battery. Now I have high heat throughout my whole work shift. This battery feels solid and well made. The bottom base of the battery has a soft rubber that grips the surface wherever you set it down. You can place it on an un-level surface and it will not move. Another nice thing about this bigger battery is I will use it with my M12 heated gear adapter and DC adapters to charge my cell phone, GPS, tablet, and other portable devices when my power bank dies. This battery is compatible with the Milwaukee 12v line-up. I already have an 18v tool collection but will be starting my 12v collection now that I have a few batteries. This battery also comes with a 3 year warranty. If you have Milwaukee 12v tools or heated gear I suggest you get this battery. I love the longer runtime.

M12 series continue to improve on battery life
Milwaukee continues to pack more power in the same physical space on the M12 series batteries. See photos for comparison between older 3 a/h cell and this new 5 a/h cell. Most of my Milwaukee tools are M18 models - and when Milwaukee ups the a/h on those they frequently just issue a larger battery body to accommodate the additional power. The M12 upgrades seem to avoid larger battery bodies (at least in this case of the XC 5.0 a/h batteries). This is important because my M12 tools are power ratchets and impact wrenches and working in and around vehicles sometimes working space is at a premium. I'm no longer a professional auto mechanic but not having to stop in the middle of a job to change batteries, even when working as a DIY'er, is a pleasure. When the M12 batteries run down they don't slowly lose power - they simply quit running the tool. It's a bit surprising at first - you tend to think that the tool broke. There are no "memory" issues with these new batteries either, so you can run them down and charge them without worry. They've come a long, long way from those old NiCad batteries. I don't have a "run time" on the new XC 5.0 battery - I've not had a job tough enough on hand to run the thing out of power. I've been able to place it in the tool and forget about it. The battery comes with a minimal charge - you'll probably want to charge it up before using it the first time. No charger comes with this battery pack, it's strictly the battery. Milwaukee claims a "74 minute" charge time on the battery; that must be from an absolutely drained state - my charge times, so far, have all been under an hour. It's rated for "all weather" performance. It's not winter here yet, so I've not tested it under cold / snowy conditions. In temps from 40 – 60 degrees it’s doing just fine. The battery comes with a 3-year warranty and works with any M12 Milwaukee tool. Home Depot offers a 90-day return warranty.

            Welcomed larger capacity M12 Battery...
Milwaukee M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion XC High Output 5.0 Ah Battery Pack is the largest size I've seen available. I mostly have 2.0 Ah batteries and a couple of 4.0 Ah ones. There isn't much to say, this battery is OEM and fits all M12 Milwaukee tools. The design is that of a 4.0 Ah battery, a tad longer at the end, and no deeper extending out of the tool in comparison. It preforms well, as expected, and has 25% more capacity than 4.0 Ah batteries. Milwaukee has a wide range of M12 tools, prefer them for their compactness and light weight, smaller size batteries hgelp. I also use M18 tools, have a place on the job, too. M18's so far come with with higher battery capacities. With current M12's, usually carry a spare, but with the 4.0 Ah battery, fully charged, haven't needed one. The new size, the larger 5.0 Ah, offers options for more runtime. I've found Milwaukee's Lithium batteries well made, long lasting after repeated recharging and comes with 3-year warranty.

            Added capacity
This is my review of the Milwaukee M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion XC High Output 5.0 Ah Battery Pack. So I have a few of the Milwaukee 12 volt tools that while they work well just seem to last as long as I would like with the smaller batteries. My fan would last about 1.5 hours on high. This battery will last about 3 to 4 hours on high. While I do find that the smaller batteries are more useful in my drill driver. I would probably switch to something like this if I was doing a large project rather than constantly switching out batteries also.

            AWESOME Tool!!!
Sometimes a regular hammer drill just does not get the job done, regardless of the volts it has; and I’m definitely not knocking on the M12 nor M18 hammer drills. When that happened to me, I when ahead with purchasing the next level up M12 SDS-Plus Rotary hammer! NOW this gets the job done, tons of power turning and chipping at concrete, smooth, not as much vibration as I thought it would have! I also paired it with the M12 Hammervac, WHAT A COMBO! No debris flying all over the place, breathing that stuff in! Keeps you and the persons arohnd you safe, while maintaining the jobsite clean!

I had doubts about the battery, I thought that an electric one was much better, big mistake, the drill works perfect, light and silent, the battery durable. Since I didn't buy it before, it would have saved me time and bits.
