The first job I used the M18 FUEL SURGE on was for framing in and flooring a second floor office addition. When it came to flooring it in, the SURGE was the perfect driver for the job. 2000+ screws and pre~drills to secure and it performed flawlessly. The “on the fly” torque adjustments were essential for the sinking depths and constant run times when pre~drilling the floor straps to the joists. And I pushed the SURGE limits. From a constant trigger pre~drilling, running HOT, the SURGE WAS RELENTLESS, never a murmur or lag, remaining consistently smooth. THANK YOU ALL AT MILWAUKEE FOR THE SAME SERVICE AND CRAFTSMANSHIP YEAR AFTER YEAR!

I have had a series of issues with the Milwaukee Impact. I love the concept of the quieter hydraulic impact, but I have had issues that include: sometimes when I push the trigger, nothing operates. The speed settings have began to not switch every time I push the button, and as of recent, my forward/reverse button is failing. Meaning, I have to pop the battery out before the action of the switch will take affect .... I am a home user, and it has only been used for smaller projects... Not big construction projects.

As always Milwaukee does it again. Over the past 5 years I have switched out all my power tool to the more reliable Milwaukee 18v cordless. Fantastic!

I bought this driver to do some work on my son's car that involved removing the intake manifold hoping that it would speed up the job, it exceeded my expectations in every way and made the job so much easier. The batteries charged in about 30 minutes each, it's a very high quality build; light, and well balanced. It has enough power to break smaller bolts, and the speed and battery life are very impressive. I bought a 2763 1/2" high torque impact based on my experience with this tool. I have an engine swap to do next and can't wait to use it.

            Maybe Not Perfect, But Close
This is a review of Milwaukee's #2760-22CT. This is a complete kit .... exactly what you want to keep around the house. It includes the 1/4" Hex Driver (2760-20), a pair of M18 2.0 A-hr Compact Batteries (48-11-1820), the M18™ & M12™ Multi-Voltage [M18 and M12-capable] Charger (48-59-1812), and a hard case. The only difference between it and Milwaukee's #2760-22 are the batteries, which are 5.0 A-hr. Pro: ergonomics - the feel and balance will suit anyone with medium-large to large hands. Personally, I like the balance with the smaller batteries better than with the heavier and larger batteries; fits in tighter places too. Pro: [not unique to this particular tool] ... compact. With battery, measures 9" tall, 5" deep, and 3.5" wide; depending on bit, that will get you into some tight spaces ... easily within a stud bay with a 8" shanked bit! Pro: three torques/speeds in impact mode help match the power to the screw, reducing the chance of over-driving or, worse, snapping the heads off; and a fourth, non-impact mode, for delicate screw work. The selector is a button beneath the variable-speed trigger/hand grip which cycles thru the four modes and has an indicator light. Pro: the trigger-activated "worklight" is bright and well-amined Pro: I actually think the hydraulics [new technology] in this tool might work; compared to my conventional drivers, the reduction in noise and vibration is noticeable so maybe that will translate into longevity ... which is all that's important to me. Con: the charger is not the larger, smarter, and more powerful "Rapid Charger" they offer (48-59-1807) but it will fully-charge an exhausted 2.0 battery in about 30 minutes. Pro: You can leave the battery in the charger. Pro: so the charger can't charge a M12 and M18 simultaneously; would you want that? the smart charger follows a FIFO strategy. Con: The warranties aren't best-in-class; I'd like to see a "lifetime" as offered thru Home Depot on a similar kit. Con: removing the bit from the chuck requires two hands, at least sometimes. The bit will lock with a simple push but there's no spring load to expel it when you pull back on the collar. A small aggravation. Con: Maybe Milwaukee should consider using white for all the text they're going to print on their signature red backfield; don't they realize that 30% of men have a heck of a time reading black print on that background? Only Time Will Tell: okay, the manufacturer claims most of the advances made with this tool will appear down the road and pay off with longevity. Obviously, I can't support those claims ... yet. Except for not having the security of a "lifetime" warranty, I'd say it's a "screaming buy, buy, buy!"

            Smooth and Quiet
The Milwaukee M18 FUEL SURGE 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Hex Hydraulic Impact Driver Compact Kit (Model 2760-22CT) includes the 2760-20 1/4 in. hex hydraulic driver, two 48-11-1820 Compact REDLITHIUM 2.0 battery packs, belt clip, bit holder, 48-59-1812 charger and molded carrying case. The main feature improvement in this impact driver is the FLUID-DRIVE hydraulic powertrain which delivers quieter operation, smoother performance and increased durability. I compared this new model to my existing 2753-20 M18 1/4 in. Hex Impact Driver. The new hydraulic unit is slightly smaller in height, a bit heavier and significantly quieter (Milwaukee quotes up to 50% quieter) and smoother when performing impacts which results in less vibration (Milwaukee quotes 3x less vibration) in the hand. RPM is the same between the models but the new model produces 300 more impacts per minute. RPM settings via the selectable drive control switch are identical except mode one which is 50 RPM higher on the new model. Milwaukee also states 450 in-lbs of sustained torque as a selling feature. Compare this to the 2753-20’s 1800 in-lbs of torque. It seems like the new model has far less torque. But what is important is how the torque is applied. With the older model torque ramps up quick and falls off quick so those 1800 in-lbs are only applied for a brief moment. On the new model the torque comes up to 450 in-lbs and then is maintained at that level for a longer period of time which results in faster driving speeds. In my side by side test I drove 3 inch deck screws into 2x4s. The feel of the hydraulic surge is a different but welcome change compared to a traditional impact driver. It still makes the impact sound but it is muted and you don’t feel it as strongly in your hand. Given a choice, I will pick the hydraulic model over a traditional impact driver for my projects.

            Easy on the user
A very quiet impact to run. Very easy on a persons hand when screwing in screws. Yes it is not milwaukee's most powerful impact but it is nice to run. I have broke 1/4" stainlesssteel bolts with this using a swivel. So it is pertty hood on power.

I recommend this particular impact to all my guys.
I’m an Electrician and we use this impact to run lag bolts, self tappers and impact rated hole saws. They have a nice set of 1/4” step drill bits that go up 1 3/8”. It’s real convenient to carry in your tool pouch.

                Surge is the best!
I have the 12 volt version which I love. This is the 18 volt and basically the same with a bigger battery. Screw driving with butter.
