Q:Silly question, im thinking about getting this for my husband. Does this work with older Milwaukee batteries? Also, would this impact work for lug nuts for removing tires? Thanks!

      Answer This Question

A:  Is not make or does not have enoght torque to remove lug nuts from tires. Its power torque is 450 in Lbs, but doest not feel like it is. I tried it and not do anything, I guess this tool is for lighter jobs.

      by|Mar 25, 2024

A:  It will work with all m18 battery’s. I’m not sure the impact will have enough torque for lug nugs but it’s a powerful kit.

Slower than 2 year used and abused standard m18
The m18 fuel surge is definitely quieter than most impacts but it’s seriously down on power , I bought it to replace a standard m18 that’s lost power over time from daily sheet metal work and heavy hits like dropping off a scissor lift and is on its last legs , I compared the two and the surge is about a second slower with 5/16 screws and definitely has less power,if you’re looking for something slow, useless in some cases, but quiet and comfortable then it’s for you

              Can’t sink timberlocks
I’ve been a carpenter for 18 years and I’ve had Milwaukee tools for the last 8 years or so. I love all my Milwaukee tools and recommend them all. With the exception of this one depending on your needs. This drill is smooth and quiet but not powerful as every other brand on my jobsite. It’s actually embarrassing having to borrow other guys impacts to finish sinking timberlocks which are very common on my site. Please improve this model Milwaukee

Not what they used to be
I upgraded my hex driver to the newer M18 Fuel model, but it stopped changing direction after a few weeks. Tool rep acknowledged the issue is common, only offered a warranty repair number with a month-long backlog. This decline in quality control is concerning. It feels like they [Milwaukee] is passing on the responsibility of fixing their production process to their customers by asking them to work with the warranty department. I recommend exploring other options before committing to this tool.

Best small Impact Driver out there.
I have 5 different Milwaukee M-18 drivers and two M12 impact drivers. I got this one late last year and it has quickly become my favorite. I like it best because it is shorter than the old model, allowing you to get access where the other one would not always fit. It also has more torque than the old model, and what really tops it off are the multiple speeds. I prefer it with the low profile 3.0 HO Battery, but I have never managed to drain a 2.0 LP battery in a single day.

Ive owned a few of these but the last two were bad
The have worked well for me. However the last two messed up within the first use. The spring pops out of the socket and the bits no longer stay in the drill. Going to return the second one now. Didnt last one day

                      This is a precision tool...
I had a bad start as it shot the collet spring out and binded the bit. 2 minute drive and 5 minutes in the store and I walk out with a brand new surge. 1 month later and I haven't had a problem. 3/8 screws with precision, 3/8 lags with speed, and a whole lot less noise while accomplishing those feats. Perfect for working in cabinets and confined spaces. Plenty of power, all I want is a bit ejection spring. Other than that no complaints. Milwaukee and home Depot customer service are fantastic!

                        :rd times the charm?
Got one of these to replace my dewalt impact. Then had to replace it becuase the chuck was machined wrong. My replacement will not hold bits because the ring inside the chuck came loose. So much for Milwaukee being the “best”

All around great impact, but does have problems.
The impact is super quiet compared to others on the market and it's powerful too. They still have some problems though. The second time i used the impact the spring that holds the chuck started coming out, so now it won't hold s chuck locked in place.

Hate the bit holder! This is the best drill that I have, but the one-bit bit holder forces me to remove a star. Milwaukee had a proven two-bit bit holder that worked, but decided to not to use it so I took the two-bit bit holder that I purchased almost nine years ago off of my old drill and put it on this one. This was an unforced error by Milwaukee. I need to switch between PH-2, PH-3 and a slotted bits regularly so I need a bit holder that can hold at least two bits. Why Milwaukee? Why? As for the drill itself, it is the same weight as the brushed drill, but much more powerful. The variable speed selector is nice. The #2 setting is what I use the majority of the time. The protective plastic shielding on the face is nice and is a nice improvement over the four thin plastic strips that were used on my old brushed drill.
