Q:Do you sell 1/2" menders?

Answer This Question

A:  Go buy a piece of 1/2" copper pipe and 2 hose clamps. Tighten the clamps as tight as you can get them. Use a small wrench or socket for best results and you should be just fine.

A:  Cut the end of the hose off square & cleanly (no ragged edges) Measure the ID (Inside diameter) of the hose.

Q:for the hose mender do I measure ID or OD?

        Answer This Question

A:  You should measure ID. 5/8" ID seems to be the most popular size of garden hose, so chances are that this product will fit your hose.

A:  Hi Les. Measure the ID for effective use of the hose mender. Have a good day!

          by|May 2, 2023

A:  The ID because the OD varies from hose to hose depending on the thickness of the hose it self.

            by|May 3, 2023

A:  I/D most water hoses or 5/8" if it is a real heavy hose is going to be a 3/4" and your probably not going to cut it. Just remember all the water hoses or pretty tough but some have steel belts around them so that would make your OD bigger but your ID is still 5/8"

            by|May 3, 2023

            A:  ID of the hose.

The hose clamps provided are faulty and cheap, don't work
The hose clamps proved are faulty and one out of two will not tighten enough to fix the hose. They just click instead of tightening. Very cheap quality hose clamps makes the whole thing useless

This is just what I was looking for! Works great -- no leaks. Don't be afraid to tighten the clamps down. you need to compress the rubber in the hose to make a tight seal.

                  Not the best hose mender
Would not recommend this product. Tightened it and every few days, it would loosen and eventually pop out. Ended up buying another hose..

                    leaks
My hose had a sort of spine within that was found after cutting the hose. I cut it on both ends, please the clamps and put the coupler on. I tightened it well with a drill. Turned on the water, hose was leaking on the area I fixed. I turned off the water and tightened. Turned it back on and still a steady drip. Not sure how to make this work. It could be that the hose i was repairing had that sort of spine inside of it, i assume to prevent kinking. Regardless, I regret not just buying a hose after struggling with this failed repair.

Product is good but not Home Depot
Product is good. Easy to use but I had to drive to the store and came back without it because the information on web is behind the time.

                          Suggestion
In response to TimHBTR52, I would avoid the lube. If you heat a cup of water in the micro (or stove), soak the hose for 30 seconds or so, this will make the rubber pliable and installation easier.

these will not get hard and brittle and break due to the age
