The spray head pops up. I have used these Saturn III for years and found the are affordable, easy to adjust and durable.

How do you clean or replace the dirt filter? Does the filter clog easily?

Well, you have got to take it apart and clean the screen under the head. See the manual. However, once the line is clean, there is no reason it will "easily" clog. A well set up system will run "clog free" for years.

Is the bottom male or female? Makes a difference in how deep I put the pipe.

The bottom is female, I use 1/2", but I think they come in 3/4" also.

I understand how to adjust the arc and distance but how do I adjust WHERE the sprinkler sprays?

Read the directions, which are under the label on the body.

What size poly pipe works with this head?

I use 1/2 inch Funny Pipe attached to 3/4 PVC distribution pipes.

My saturn 3 sprinkler head rotates all the way to the left and then just stops.

If the rotor is not going back and forth, the gears inside are probably damaged and you will need a new rotor. It is important to make the left/right radius with the water off. Turn off the water, hold the body and use the palm of my hand to turn the rotor all the way left, then back right, then I use the radius screw to adjust the left and right stops. Keep adjusting the screw until you get the left and right stops you desire. I do this for all the rotors in the zone. Turn the water on and use the spray screw to get the spray pattern and distance you like for each rotor.

I have 1/2 inch Drip Irrigation tubing coil installed already, so will this sprinkler still work ...

I would use 1/2 inch Funny Pipe type tubing or solid PVC pipes for spray irrigation installs. Drip irrigation tubing is thin walled and may not be suitable for use with the higher water pressures that spray rotors use. Drip irrigation should have a pressure reducer installed to lower the psi that might limit the pressure need to spray.

The sprinkler is great, but not reaching the area- approximately one ft. Directly around the sprinkler head?

Most spray heads do not water the area close to the spray head. What I do is have each rotor's spray overlap the other rotos slightly to cover the area directly around each rotor.

if I intend to adda 28 ft section to my existing irrigation system to add 3 spray heads for a short radius spray, shold i reduce the line size for the

I would think 2 of these Saturn III would work for 28', did not understand reducing the line size?? A quick way would be to use Funny Pipe for new section.

Excellent pop-up.
This sprinkler is great if you're having a hard time running a bunch of spot sprinklers or impacts. In fact, it'll change your life. These leave a dry region when you're within an arms reach of the sprinkler. That's not a bad thing. For example, if you install the sprinkler near a building or pavement, it won't have a tendency to make puddles on the pavement, or soak the building's foundation, or cause the stucco on the building to crumble. I recommend putting these on spikes so you can try them out, then when you're satisfied, go ahead and put them in the ground on hard lines.

This product is easy to Install. It is also super easy to adjust with the included tool and instructions. Put the tool in one adjustment spot to control how far it rotates. Place the tool in a different hole to adjust the distance the water goes. I like how it pops up 4" so when not in use I can mow over it and not hit the sprinkler head, but it still clears the longer grass to cover the area needed.

The Saturn lll was the easiest set up sprinkler head I have used so far. Directions are simple for adjusting both distance and spray area. No squinting to find the screw heads. Took two minutes to install and adjust. But the best feature in my case is the adjustable 15-30 foot coverage. It was perfect for the area I needed it at.

The sprinkler works great. It’s easy to install and adjust. The quality of the plastic feels cheap and seems like it may not last as long as I was hoping.
