I called HD and they told me that this was a one-time special buy and they won't be getting them back in stock. HD needs to remove this from the product list or they will continue to get this question.

Do they work with recessed lighting fixtures?
Yes. All12 I bought were put into recessed ceiling fixtures.
Yes. You most likely would only want to use this type of bulb in a recessed fixture, due to the fact that the light only emits from the very top of the bulb, and the rest is painted metal.
Yes, we replaced old style flood bulbs with these LEDs in ceiling cans.
Mine went into recessed fixtures. But there are many styles of recessed. So I'd try, and return if not appropriate.
are these lights shatterproof?
These are not rated as shatterproof. They are fairly fragile
I just got two of these, and I think they are probably pretty durable. The outside is made of metal and the lens through which the light emits is plastic. The electronics inside might be the most sensitive part to extreme shock.
