A: I use them for exterior applications such as fencing. They are easy to use and hold well.
A: I predrilled a hole of 3.5 mm x 4" deep, then fed the screws into the wood block with ease. If your application is simple perhaps you do not need the pilot hole.
A: The point on these screws are very sharp and are easily installed with a power drill (or screw driver).
A: I would not recommend it. This is a long very heavy duty screw. A 2 inch long screw would be better. A stud is only 1 1/2 inch thick...
A: I would say yes as long as they fit through the hinge holes and the wood is not rotten in the door jam. If not you will have to move the hinges.
