It arrived fully assembled and ready to use. There is a metal bracket that connects the wooden handle to the metal rake head. The handle is about 60" long and the rack head is about 17" wide. There are 16 tines that measure about 3" long. There is a little less than an inch between each tine. It is designed to use both sides of the tool head. The tines are great for digging, pulling, ripping, and grabbing small/medium sized rocks as well as viney brush and other vegetation. The flat side works great for leveling and smoothing the surface of your gravel, mulch, soil or sand. We have a few rakes for different uses but this rake is in a league of it's own! This is great addition to our garden tools!!!

It does a good job of digging in, and the 17" wide head gives good coverage and makes leveling quick. The head is forged steel, made in China; it has a 3-1/4" overall height, and a 2-3/4 tine depth. It's 3/8 thick at the spine edge, tapering to 1/4 thick at the tips. The attachment tang is 3/8 x 5/16 and slip fit into the handle. The metal collar is held by a small soft nail about 1/2" long which does not completely go through the tang. I suspect the nail is not intended to hold the rake head, but just the collar. The handle is good quality and appears to be ash hardwood. Overall it's a nice rake, well suited to homeowner and general garden work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy for a landscape rake. The handle is very comfortable. When I bang the handle on the cement floor in my garage, I feel no vibration from the connection to the tine end. Very solid construction. The tine side of the rake is made of a forged, heavy gauge metal. It may be an issue for some garden applications. I'm a little leary of the one rivet holding the tine onto the wood handle. I like the width. The weight will certainly be an advantage when raking out soil.

Our neighborhood is required to keep leaves and trash out of our ditches in front of our homes. I had been removing them with a shovel and had ended up in muddy ditch a couple of times in my endeavors. I needed a strong, long handled rake to make my job easier. I picked this one and I love it. It has thick, sturdy handle and the tines are strong and grab like you would expect. It should have been in my assortment of garden tools long before now.

This rake is a razorback tool, which I own a few other tools from that manufacturer and I use and like them ALL!! This rake has a pin that is into the handle and through the rake head to keep the head on. I have used a few rakes like this style WITHOUT THE PIN and the head came off in a very short time. I am looking to putting this rake to work in my front yard to rake out the stones that the roto-tiller brought to the surface.
