        Answer This Question

A:  It would be best to kill the weeds before you seed the lawn. Lots of weeds will crowd out the seed that is trying to germinate.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Turf Builder THICK'R LAWN Grass Seed, and appreciate your feedback. This Grass Seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed.

              Grass Can Grow in Spring
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I planted this seed in late Spring, as there was a bare spot that I wanted to cover before summer. Typically I plant grass in the fall. Although it took a bit longer than I expected to grow in, I am very pleased with the results and the grass has withstood some stress and heat this summer. I was meticulous about following the preparation steps prior to planting and the grass eventually grew thick and tall as advertised. I would purchase this product again.

                Did not work at all.
I bought this in April put it down and it did not work. I have always been very happy with your products. And I’ve used this in the past and have always been happy with the results. I’m wondering if it was a bad bag. I never give bad reviews but this one I had too.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Thick'R Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. You should start seeing germination in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions, but will take about a month for all the seed to germinate. We recommend mowing the grass short and rake or de-thatch the area to remove dead grass and loosen exposed soil prior to applying. This Grass Seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80-degree F range. Weed control used prior to seeding will prevent seed from germinating. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
                  Best product I’ve ever used.
Been Scotts for years & I always have the best healthy, greenish lawn in the neighborhood. I wish I could post a photo.

I used the Scott 3 in 1 and grass last year after cultivating and redoing my yard. I add topsoil grass seeds along with 3 in 1 cover it with EZ Straw. This year in March my grass has never look better and look at it now. On May 12 I will be used the Scott Turf Builder Lawn Food. I highly recommend this product. Will be using it in early Fall.

                      Did not germinate at all
Spent 90 some bucks with tax on a big bag of Scott's Thick'R Lawn , Nothing came up or even germinated . Looks like dried seed laying in my yard , we did everything needed to do & put straw on top . Very Unsatisfied !! Now we have to rake the straw up , re-rake and buy Other grass seed & start over.
