My New Favorite Room in the House
This screen system turned my deck into an extension of the house. It was very easy to install. I contacted the manufacturer in advance with questions and they were prompt and very clear with responses. The product arrived on schedule and was packaged very nicely. Because my openings are pretty large there was a bit of a learning curve for me to figure out how to properly install the screen without wrinkles but definitely worth the time. Now I'm an expert. We get compliments on the screen room all the time. We are one year in and it has held up very nicely even with the Michigan snow. I highly recommend this product.

FastTrack: 1 Star Do yourself a big favor and purchase Screeneze as an excellent alternative (that's what I wish I had purchased after the fact)…it appears to be 4 times as easy to install and when you buy screws and spline and track, screen tight costs more. What is wrong with the product: 1.The design is really cool at first glance. The ease of install is great. HOWEVER, when paired to make railings or posts, there is a serious design flaw. The two rails are supposed to click together and hold tight. Once screen is installed, the rails separate along the middle because they do not hold tight enough together. It doesn’t matter if you re-click them together…they just pull apart again. I had this problem using them as rails, but would be the same if you did posts. The manufacturer told me that there were dimensional inconsistencies in some of the product, so I either got defective product or the design is poor. The parts fit together just fine, so I am presuming that the design is bad and this issue will be with all parts. 2. As a result, I now have to drill holes in each in the middle and put a nut and a bolt to hold them together. This looks ugly. Otherwise, it would have looked really good. 3. Cost: Don’t forget you have to buy the plastic parts that it attaches to (very expensive) and stainless screws to attach them separate…it really adds up! 4. Specified screentight spline does NOT work as it is supposed to. The screen came loose because the track does not compress into the track tightly. I had to troubleshoot and find my own solution which was a completely different brand/size. Summary: I installed exactly to specification, including checking in with the manufacturer to make sure. It was still a problem.

Product is great just make sure you get the retaining clips and screws. Easy to install and hold tight to mounting surface. Only down fall is shipping took a long time. Make sure you order what you need way in advance before starting the job.

This product is really good. I had to screen 2 openings that were 80"x 68" and it came out great. With that kind of space you really have to shop around for the screen that will fit but it all came together.

The plastic connectors work well for wall connections, but do not work well for holding middle pieces. This leaves you with a flimsy connection that wants to come apart even as you do the screen.

I Highly Recommend the Fast Track Sysyem.
Was easy to Install. Just make certain your clips are aligned correctly. Use a Straight edge. I got away with using (1) 10” Metal Cutoff Blade ($6) with my mitre saw to make 36 cuts. I had to manually file every cut down. A real metal blade would probably have been better but it is was $65.

        SOLD SEPARATELY?!?
The only method of installing the track given by the manufacturer is by using the mounting clips. The clips are not included with the track nor are they mentioned in the list of additinal items required for instalation by the manufacturer on their webpage. They are sold separately and the shipping wait was 10 days for the clips to arrive.

I figured'd review this now, having just finished an installation this past weekend. My project was about as basic as they come, just a couple of 7' tall rectangles, one 10' wide and the other 11' wide with a door. First, the shipping and product itself. No matter how many of these you need for your project, I would plan to order in quantities of 20 and just return what you don't need. There are 2 reasons. The first is that the manufacturer ships these in a 20 count box. If you buy them that way, they are nicely packaged, wrapped in plastic with paper separators, then bound together in a well fitting box. Anything outside of the multiples of 20 are thrown into an 8' long box and not wrapped or bound at all, allowing them to bounce around. That leads to the second reason to order extra. As great a job as this company did on the engineering of these, their quality control needs some work. I had a number of pieces that had dings and scratches in addition to just lousy powder coating work. It would have been nice to have had 5 or 10 extras to juggle in order to get quality pieces everywhere. I ended up having to use a few of the lesser quality pieces as the bottom of my horizontal cross bars. For the system itself, it works very well, almost too well actually. I was able to do the entire job myself with not much more than a power miter saw (don't use a hacksaw), 4' level, tape measure, pencil, drill (ideally a hammer drill, if you have concrete), and power screwdriver/impact wrench. Simply mark/measure and cut the track to size, put it in place with a level, trace down both sides with a pencil, then install the clips 14-16" apart (with the first being 2-3" from the corner) and snap the track in place. A couple of things to note. When the tracks snap onto the clips. the edge of the track is exactly even with the bottom edge of the clip. On my stucco walls, this led to some frustration as the walls are not a nice even line all the way down and I had to beat the snot out of some of the track to get it clipped in place (I do not recommend a dead blow hammer for this - trust me). If on stucco, it may be worthwhile to leave the clips just a hair loose or to look at the line where the edge of the track will be an make sure there are no overly raised sections of stucco that are going to cause an issue. You can chip them out, if so. Honestly, it wasn't that big of a deal on my job (3 out of the 22 pieces I used were problematic) bit I could see it being a bigger pain if you stucco is more jagged or you have a bigger job. The other thing to note is that, once you install these on the clips, they are very hard to remove without damaging the track. I thought I would save a little money and have a neater installation by installing a single track against the wall to mount my door to. I put 7 clips on the wall and installed the track, but almost immediately changed my mind and decided to install 2 tracks (in a 2x2) instead, as that is what the door called for. I messed with it a bit trying to get the track off the clips but ended up chipping the stucco and scratching the track and it still never came loose. I proceeded with the installation but now I've got to figure out some way to rig my screen door closer as that part is designed for a 2x2. 2 things learned here - 1. use a 2x2 wherever your door is going to be mounted / 2. plan ahead and don't mount track before you're sure it is where you want it. The last thing to note is the screws. I bought a couple of bags of Fast Track screws (#10 x 1.5") from the website along with the rest of my supplies. They worked pretty well for the flat concrete on the ground, but they weren't really long enough for the stucco over cinderblock on the walls and ceiling of my installation. I found some #10 x 2" and #10 x 3" screws in the screening isle at Home Depot that worked much better in those places. They cost about twice as much but it was a drop in the bucket as part of the entire project. All in, I'm glad I went this route. I spent about 2/3 the cost of what I was quoted by a screen company and I finished it in a day and a half as opposed to the 6 weeks the company estimated. I can now start enjoying my screened patio before the summer humidity makes it too miserable to sit outside. Yay, Florida!

The product seems to be very high quality. That is why I chose it. Time will tell. Ordering & shipping have been a huge headache. I am a HD Pro Xtra contractor and this project has taken over 3 months to complete. My first order arrived damaged, second order was delayed and the 3rd order was completely the wrong material from what I ordered. The hours that I have spent resolving material issues, wasted time on returns and dealing with a very upset client will make me think twice about ordering material on-line from HD. I had to use the damaged material from the first order to complete the job. Pounding out dents in the aluminum channel, bending parts of the damaged channel back into place and having to buy matching enamel touch paint and paint the straightened areas which I know will not last over time like the anodized coating. This is time I can not bill for or recover. As a small business owner that depends on my suppliers this has been a very bad and costly experience. More importantly, my client expect a very professional job and I use the highest quality, long lasting, innovative materials I can find. This on-line experience was very bad and detrimental to the level of quality craftsmanship I provide my clients. Bruce Pond BP Handyman Service LLC "Quality Work done with care"

            Fast Track
Great stuff. Easy installation and neat, clean, finished look. But...The shipping department at Screen Tight is incompetent. My original order was for 38 pieces. Half of them were delivered with dents, scuffs, or other blemishes. The problem..?? Insufficient packaging to survive the abuse UPS is well known for. Re-ordered eighteen pieces. Eighteen pieces were again delivered dented and scuffed. Insufficient packaging again. Re-ordered....again. This time Home Depot assured me the latest shipment would include extra packaging to ensure unblemished tracks. Upon delivery, only four were acceptable. Same packaging. Re-order, yet again. This next delivery is not expected util August....I started this in May. Since this is a product review only, four stars. Like I said, clean look when installation is finished. If this review were to include the overall experience...ZERO. The local staff tells me this isn't the first time they've had problems with Fast Track, and have relayed their concerns. Mine isn't the first problem, but somehow Fast Track refuses to correct this situation. Would I recommend this product? Only if it were stocked in the local stores so customers could see what the pieces look like before buying. Otherwise, stay away. Fast Track, UPS nor Home Depot can seem to deliver an unblemished track.
