SharkBite 1 in. x 3/4 in. BF-1 Series Dual Check Backflow Preventer with Connections Is a very high quality back-flow preventer. The main body valve supply side is a 1 inch threaded connection, made by Cash Acme in Cullman Alabama with a 3/4 inch sharkbite attached to the the other end that would connect to your interior plumbing. I like that the valve can be detached, taken apart and the valve can be cleaned or the inside parts replaced. Very quick and easy. The valve comes with a Sharkbite tool to remove the valve if needed and a washer for the threaded end. Per the Instructions: "To be used with: PEX (ASTM F876, CSA B137.5) Copper (ASTM B 88) CPVC (ASTM D 2846, CSA B137.6)PE-RT (ASTM F 2769)HDPE (SDR-9 ASTM D2737) The SharkBite fittings have an integral PEX Stiffener that is effective in supporting PEX, PE-RT, and HDPE tubing to ensure the o-ring seals correctly on the outside of the pipe. Extremely heavy and necessary. Backflow preventers aren't found in our older homes so it makes me feel better when I can install one of these so easily. I've only started using sharkbite in the last few months and so far they're great to work with and save so much time. Old school guys may not like it but I'm not an old school guy. It has a hefty weight to it.
