Product Overview

The Titen HD anchor is a high-strength screw anchor for concrete and masonry. It is designed for optimum performance in both cracked and uncracked concrete. The high-strength, easy-to-install Titen HD anchor has been tested and shown to provide outstanding performance in cracked and uncracked concrete under both static and seismic loading conditions. The self-undercutting, non-expansion characteristics of the Titen HD anchor make it ideal for structural applications, even at reduced edge distances and spacings. Recommended for permanent dry, interior non-corrosive environments or temporary outdoor applications.
  • Qualified for static and seismic loading conditions
  • Thread design undercuts to efficiently transfer the load to the base material
  • No special drill bit required; designed to install using standard-sized ANSI tolerance drill bits
  • Testing shows the Titen HD installs in concrete with 50% less torque than competitor anchors
  • Hex-washer head requires no separate washer and provides a clean installed appearance
  • Carbon steel Titen HD utilizes a specialized heat-treating process that creates tip hardness for better cutting without compromising the ductility
  • Mechanical galvanizing meets ASTM B695, Class 65, Type 1, intended for some pressure-treated wood sill plate applications; not for use in other corrosive or outdoor environments
  • Size: 5/8 in. x 6-1/2-in
  • Caution: Use a Titen HD screw anchor one time only — installing the anchor multiple times may result in excessive thread wear and reduce load capacity

What is the best rotary bit size for this Titen? What is the right washer size?

Answer

The 5/8" Titen HD requires a 5/8" drill bit (no special drill bit required — designed to install using standard-sized ANSI tolerance drill bits). The hex-washer head requires no separate washer, unless required by code. Thank you!

It says for "temporary applications" outside - can this be used to anchor my Pergola bases outsid...

Answer

Because it is only recommended for temporary exterior applications, it would not be recommended for an outdoor project that is intended to in place long term. We do offer a 1/2" x 6 1/2" Titen HD in stainless steel, or you might consider the Wedge-All wedge anchor (it would be up to the Designer to specify the appropriate anchor). Thank you!

Reasonably strong anchors for most applications. Particularly good for anchoring near the edge of slab as there is little risk of breaking slab edge. However, these can be overly tightened and strip the concrete. For permanent installs, you may want to consider using epoxy in the anchor well.
