does this pipe come with a coupler on one end?

Hi squirley, this pipe does not come with a coupling attached. The Home Depot does sell 1-in Galvanized Couplings that will connect with this pipe along with several other fittings. We hope this helps with your project.

Is there an easy way to remove the protective caps? I’m having a hard time.

You can unscrew them just like a bottle cap. I would use a rag to do it, though, because it gives you a better grip on the plastic. Be careful, though, the threads that are on the pipe are quite sharp and can cut your fingers if you are not careful. Another way to remove the protective plastic cap is to use a pair of Channel Locks to grab it and unscrew it. You can also cut them off with one of those box cutters with a handle on it - not the razor blade type. Again, in all instances be careful of the edges and the threads. You can cut yourself on them (even the unthreaded ends). Using work gloves for protection is a really good idea, too.

How much weight does this “pipe” hold? I am looking for a Hammock holder

Hi Buttercup, this sounds like an incredible project you're looking to build. Unfortunately this pipe is designed for transporting fluids and has not been tested for structural projects to withstand regular interaction. We wish you the best with your DIY project and the journey it will take you on.

Can I use this pipe for Backyard Monkey Bars?

Can this be used as underground conduit?

Asked by Note January 12, 2020

I would use the gray PVC plastic pipe designed for underground use. If you put it in right, it will be water tight and, being plastic, won't rust out/corrode in damp soil. Metal pipe can leak and eventually rust out.

I cut this galvanized steel pipe into a 6 foot and 4 foot length. I chose these lengths especially to use as an extension to my socket ratchet handle to use as extra leverage to remove bolts and nuts that are too tight to remove using the ratchet handle alone. The 6 foot length worked exceptionally well to remove a nut on my brush cutter that was torqued to 450 pounds. I highly recommend steel pipe.
