How do you get it open in order to replace the fuse?

No offense, but the wording of your question suggests you really should get an electrician to work on it. It uses breakers, not fuses. You unscrew the two silver screws in front to remove the cover.

You have to focus on the breaker at the house feeding the 6 gauge wire. That breaker protects the wire from burning up. You can put a box at the end that can handle a higher load you just won’t be able to draw more current than the breaker sourcing the run to it. Given the loads you describe it doesn’t sound like you will be able to run them all at the same time, maybe only one at a time, but that is ok if that’s all you want. Hard to know your situation but bigger wire to your shop, barn, and greenhouse would be more convenient because your source breaker could be larger and you could run more. For example my compressor would consume that entire circuit when running. I do have this box and run it as an 80 amp sub panel (2 40 amp breakers)

What 125A and/or 100A main breaker should be used with this unit?

This is a lug center which doesn't have a main breaker. It will support up to 125 amps of load out of the box. So you could use a 125 amp breaker or several smaller breakers to protect various branch circuits.

what size wire do I use for 125 amp it will be in 1 1/2" conduit

Can I use a 50A main breaker for this panel rather than a 125A?

The answer I read from the previous Homelite Rep did not seem to answer ur question correctly..........I am assuming u mean that u will have a 50 amp. main breaker in another master panel to feed this subpanel..........as I understand this panel it is more of a sub panel than a master panel since u only have 4 positions and the power line inputs are wired directly to the terminal blocks with the lug screws shown in the blown up picture of the interior.......this panel can handle loads up to 125 amp so yes if u feed a 50 amp breaker in ur main panel to this subpanel with the proper guage wire then u can use it to supply 2 ...20 amp 240 v. breakers............or even have an 80 amp breaker in the main and feed 2.....40 amp 240 v breakers in this sub panel

Vertical orientation gives plenty of room for the much larger AFCI/GFCI circuit breakers while still being able to route wires in from the bottom. Instructions were clear; all essential hardware was included.
