Do I need these on all four corners or just the bottom two?

No, just the two bottom corners.

Can this be used on a 2x6 bottom sill (framing)?

I installed these on window rough openings with 2x6 framing. The main focus of these is to provide a seamless corner transition of the wall plane to sill/jamb. Flashing tape handles the rest. The depth of framing doesn't matter.

so the title says for doors and windows, but the specs say for windows only. Which is correct?

This corner flashing is 3.5 inches deep which works well for windows. In some cases It can also be used on doors; however some doors will require a 4 and 9/16 inch sill flashing.

Thank you for the prompt response. Next question is how many do I need per window?

Asked by Sammy October 12, 2020

These are placed on the bottom two corners of the rough window opening so you need two per window.

What is the thickness of these?

About 1/16 of an inch, maybe a little less. Not greater than 1/16"

Why can't I find this today in store?

When I was buying it, I had the same question - why can I buy this in the store. The area I live in is going through one of the largest housing booms in the country but I too had to order it. I looked around at all different type of home construction/lumberyards and nobody stocks it. As a homeowner and do it yourself person I’m going to take a little bit more time than the average contractor does to bang out a project. I will say that they came very quickly when I ordered them and because I was thinking ahead it’s in an affair with what I was doing. Hope this helps.

Is this compatible for louver windows?

Asked by Sammy October 11, 2020

it is used between the outside of the window frame and the wood framing or block opening in the exterior wall - help to keep water out of the corners and is covered by window tape after screws are inspected - any window louvered or not should be able to use it - hope this helps

Why on earth are these sold online only?

Asked by Tom September 8, 2015

Answer

Because the average joe would never think of buying these and they would sit on the shelf gathering dust.

Why is this corner not recommended for doors? Is there an equivalent for doors?

The 3-1/2 in. SureCorner flexible corner flashing for door and window installation served as a great supplement to the flexible sill flashing for my sliding patio. Hopefully, the combination of the SureCorner and the 6 in. wide Grace Vycor Plus flexible flashing will protect the subfloor/sill and all below it from water intrusion for a lifetime. I had to replace the 20 year old Crestline wooden (Aluminum clad exterior) patio door that came with my original home. I chose the United 4500 vinyl door for the second installation. In 1997 my builder installed the patio door with no protection of any kind to the subfloor/sill. Over the years water infiltrated and damaged part of: the fixed door panel (not his fault), the door sill, subfloor/sill, the exterior OSB sheathing, box joist, floor joist, insulation (between the floor joists), and the house sill. I had to fix/replace some structures before installing the new door. A replacement job became a repair and replacement job. Good luck with your projects.

Easy to install, easy to trim where necessary. It is flexible and not a ridge plastic and looks to be "flexible PVC" , therefore it may not work with all types of window sealing tape such as those that are incompatible with flexible PVC. I use this in combination with Nashua Window and Door Flashing Tape and it worked great. Just install this last week and looks to be holding strong to the SureSill corner flashing.
