Yes, the Tapcons will work for wood, depending on the type and hardness of the wood, a smaller drill size may work better in softer wood, for longevity. Especially if the project is outdoors, where the wood will shrink out over time, a tighter fit will be to your advantage.

Can you get these in a galvanized silver color instead of blue?

I've used tapcon screws many times before and as always, they exceed my expectations. In this project I used the tapcon screws to hang two garden hose hangers on concrete block walls. I did need to add washers because the pre-installed holes in the garden hose hangers were slightly larger than the heads of the tapcon screws. I used a 3/16 inch tapcon screw drill that I already had and because of the great thread engagement of the tapcon screws, I was finished in about 10 minutes.

Worth every penny
Quality at it's best, these anchors stand up to the test. They don't break very easy at all in fact I haven't had one break yet, just the drill bit. With the proper depth drilled these anchors helped support the foundation and didn't slip or spin out
