You could certainly use this around a chimney. It would have to be the exact size and you will have to cut in a reglet afterward.
I do believe laminated glass has a film to bond prevent the glass from separating into pieces if broken as in auto glass, and tempered glass is rigid and will shatter into bits to prevent shards.
No, you should only need one kit for each skylight.
You’ll have more than you need to complete installation and that cannot be used for tile installation
Yes you can
The skylite type, and the surface that the skylite is to be mounted on are considered a matched set. You must know the type of surface to be mounted on(ie:shingle, tile, metal),the rough roof opening size, and what are your desired features on the proposed skylite.the proper package can be assembled by combinding these facts. The Velux is a very good, and easy to install packaged skylite. I am a skylite specialist for a local roofing contractor, and would, at no charge, help put your objective into a simple list of part #'s and descriptions.
Yes. I have installed two units on our corrugated steel roof. No leaks at all even on heavy snow years. Easy to cut the steel roof material for a close, neat fit around the skylight.
Hi, I don't know enough about specs to answer this question but Velux customer service has been very helpful every time we've needed them. You definitely have to use the correct kit to keep your warranty!
I would contact Velux directly about which flashing kit will work with the type of roof on which you are working. My roof is shake / cedar shingles and the kit that I purchased was installed by a qualified roofer for my type of roof.
Go with the manufacturer's recommendation. I did and have had no problems.
