      I have a 40” opening. Can I make the 36” door work?
      ByFeb 18, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

No, there would be too much gap on one side of the bifold

Can I trim 1/8" off each side of the bi-folds. I know it will invalidate the warranty but I am not concerned with that. I have no other option but to trim. My finished opening is 35 7/8".

        Answer This Question

Yes you can if you can cut very straight. Sanding that cut edge after will help with the edge too.

Easy assembly. A little effort to get into place and hold while adjusting the height. Two people make that much easier!

                    Meh.
Overall not bad. However it’s advertised to fit 80in openings when in fact you need 80.6. Shouldn’t have to read that deep into specifications to find that out. Bought a door that doesn’t quite fit now. Very annoying.

                      Ok for the price
At the time of my review the 24” door was $109. That’s why it got two stars. But as far as quality goes it’s pretty rough. Nicks, dents, scratches, poor paint coverage, and mine didn’t close all the way because the hinge screws were all proud of the hinges. I had to take out the screws and countersink the hinge holes so the screws sat flush. Then it pretty much closed all the way. I put this in my own house, but I am a remodel contractor and I would not put this in a customer’s house. This is why it earns my title ‘ok for the price’.

It's pretty good for the price. Hardware included is fine. Paint quality is good, though not perfect, some rough on the sides. The hinges are not all quite the same though, maybe paint got in or the like, some doors don't stay flat and spring back ever so slightly. Packaging is good and efficient, well protected corners of doors. On a budget I'd recommend / buy again.

Great replacement door for one from the 1960s. My handyman installed it and I painted it. Great value for the price!

                        I would not.
Bought 2 bifold doors for $250, just arrived in crappy condition with ruptures and marks all over. Provided the proof and the store won’t do a pick up to return.

                          Easy install
Bought this today 30x80. Got my 30.5x80 opening and was very easy to install. I had to buy a special bit to drill a hole for the bottom bracket to the tile flood. Installed in 30 minutes!

                            Watch out for chips
Bought online delivered quick although the door has a chip I called Home Depot and they tried to blame the driver for damage I ordered another and had some chips but not too bad. I was able to get it installed and noticed the rail was bent
