Q:Are these sturdy enough to be used as table legs? It would be replacing metal legs that are 1 5/8".

A:  I think so. I used them for extensions for my mother's bed. They fit into the hollow aluminum legs on her bed and extend the height about 9". They seem really dense and would make stable table legs, as long as they were not too long.

          All wood is hard, but not all wood is hardwood.
          Poplar is not hardwood on anybody's radar. Hardwood is Birch, Mahogany, Maple, Oak, Walnut, etc... Poplar, Pine, Redwood, etc., are NOT Hardwood species. If you made this purchase thinking you were going to be receiving an actual hardwood dowel, you will be sorely disappointed. The advertised description is completely and intentionally misleading.
