This panel can be fed from the top. Whenever feeding from the top in a NEMA 3 enclosure it is important to use a hub. Purchased separately. This will insure a water tight fit and maintain the UL listing.

The sizes are 1/2", 3/4" and 1". To see the number of knockouts I'd recommend you visit your local HD store and ask the electrical dept manager to show you.
There are 3 -1/2”, 2 - 3/4 “, 3-1”, 1-1-1/4”, 1-1/2” and 2” . This is all available knockouts however 3 of the 4 knock outs are concentric meaning they are combination. 2 go from 1/2” through 1”. 1 goes from 1” through 2”. The 4th is only 1/2”. Hope this helps.
No pictures, but correct connections are not rocket science. You never mentioned if the breaker ever worked properly so I am assuming you just connected it incorrectly. First of all, the disconnect should be fed with 4-wires, 2 hots, 1 neutral and 1 ground to the ground bar, the same as any 120/240 volt subpanel. The white pigtail from the breaker should terminate on the neutral bus. The 2 hot circuit conductors and the neutral circuit conductor (if there is one) are the load conductors and all 3 terminate at the appropriate terminal on the GFCI breaker. There should be instructions detailing this. The circuit grounding conductor terminates on the ground bar. If the breaker continues to trip, remove all load conductors from the breaker and try resetting again. If the GFCI breaker trips with no load conductors connected it is faulty and should be replaced.
On the load side wiring the red and black wire go to the right and left breaker screws. The load neutral, (white) goes to the center breaker screw. The most common mistake is terminating the load neutral to the neutral bar vs the breaker. This will cause it to trip.
This spa panel is a 125 amp rated main lug only panel, the 60 amp GFCI breaker is a branch breaker and not a main breaker so no, the GFCI breaker does not protect other circuits in the panel. You can add an additional GFCI breaker or if in the case of a receptacle circuit, you can add a regular GE THQL breaker and use a GFCI receptacle to provide the required GFCI protection.
Thank you for your question. The GFCI is dedicated to the 60a 240v SPA. It’s not a main. There are two additional spaces for other breakers that can be installed. You can add an additional GFCI breaker for another circuit. THQL1120GFTP or THQL1115GFTP for 120v circuits.
I understand your question ,,,referring to the 60amp breaker as the main breaker and any other breakers added in the box for what ever use--"WOULD THE 60 amp PROTECT ANY ADDED BREAKERS ?" , ,, my turn now, - The item needing the 60amp GFI breaker will actually be connected to it by the neutral wire from the item needing the breaker-- just under the 2 connectors (red,black) or the 2 legs of 120v) on the breaker , ,, the white pig tail coming from the breaker will connect to the neutral bus bar, as will the neutral from the power source, The power source will connect to the separate large connectors mounted in the box for each one of them. for each one of the 120v wires (red) (black) (each leg of the 220)). This should describe that the neutral wire going to the item needing the 60am GFI is dedicated ONLY between that breaker and item needing the breaker. All additional breaker slots or spots etc. in this box may be non gfi,, DEPENDING WHAT THEY ARE NEEDED FOR.
No, this 60 Amp, GFIC breaker is dedicated to the spa because it is 2-pole 240 Volt. There are no spaces for additional breakers in this panel.
The included breaker will only protect the circuit that is connected to it. It WILL NOT protect any other circuits installed in the panel. You will need a separate GFCI breaker or feed into a GFCI receptacle and use the feed through wiring of the receptacle to protect that circuit.
Any breaker installed after the GFCI Disconnect should be covered by GFCI Breaker
Looks like it should. One more thing, if the kiln controller is relay based, you should probably avoid arc fault breakers in this circuit, because the relays arc a bit when they open and close and could trip an arc fault breaker (AFCI). Newer style controllers are electronic, and shouldn't have this problem.
There is no GFCI requirement for a kiln. Keep in mind that you are only allowed one power feed to a detached building so if you would like some lights and perhaps a few 120 volt receptacles you will need a larger circuit to the shed. I would recommend you install a 100 amp main breaker panel with an added ground bar kit and feed it with 3 - #4 THWN and 1 - #8 Grn THWN (ground) from an 80 amp breaker in the main house panel. You'll also need to install at least one ground rod and connect it to the panel ground bar with #6 copper ground wire. The 100 amp main breaker becomes a disconnect and protection is at the 80 amp breaker in the house. You can now install a 60 amp breaker to feed the kiln. If the shed has a bare concrete floor the receptacles will need to be GFCI protected.
Jared.....in view of the latest information you posted, the kiln still should not need GFCI protection, but the receptacles might since the floor doesn't seem to me to be finished. It's really a judgement call on the part of the inspector. I think I would go ahead and GFCI protect the receptacles using a GFCI receptacle. Even if the inspector requires you to GFCI protect the kiln circuit, you do not need this separate panel, just install the GFCI breaker in the GE main service panel. That being said, the least expensive way to buy a GE 60A GFCI breaker is to buy either a GE or Midwest spa panel w/GFCI breaker, remove the breaker and throw the enclosure away. A breaker alone will cost more than either of the spa panels that come with the GFCI breaker. This all depends on the version of the NEC your town has adopted and the inspector makes the final call.
Yes it will satisfy the National Electrcal Code and most local codes for breaker sizes and GFIC. Also, the enclosure is NEMA 3R for outdoor use.
TomB2......Thanks for your response. I have a new 200amp feed coming directly to the shed, separate from the house, with its own meter. The kilnwill be on a wood floor protected with cement board. Will that require a GFCI? Merry Christmas Tom!

Just connect the 2 hot wires at the breaker, a neutral does not need to be connected to the GFCI breaker for it to work properly.
First to make sure in what your asking. The neutral is a white wire, the ground is a bare or green wire. If your wire has only red/ black with a bare wire then you have no neutral. You need 6/3 with ground for most 240 volt systems. Sounds like you have 6/2 with a ground.You must have a neutral for your gfi to work. Do not run on the ground wire, normaly it is to small to work .
It connects in the same way. Just don't connect the neutral. You will still be protected on a 2 wire circuit.
The black and red wires get attached at the top of the breaker. The white wire from the heater gets attached to the bottom side of the breaker. The curly cue white wire that is attached to the breaker gets attached to the ground bar that has all of the white wires attached to it in your sub panel. Do not attach the curlycue white wire to the ground bar that has the copper ground wires, it will continually trip the breaker in that configuration.
