    A:  Mine has a button that you push to select the settings. If you search the make and model you should be able to find a manual online.

    A:  The air gap is used if the drain hose is connected to the house plumbing lower than 20" above subfloor or floor.

      A:  Please see detailed installation instructions on www.Amana.com All dishwashers require an air gap somewhere in the drain line. Some air gaps are facilited by connecting through a food waste disposer, or a sink branch tail piece, etc.. Thanks for you interest in an Amana dishwasher
